A new coach, reportedly a new halfback, $3.5+ million dollars to spend and all the time in the world. I don't think it's crazy to say that the Sharks are going to look very different in 2022.

Craig Fitzgibbon has the proverbial "war chest" at his disposal with huge money contracts ending and multiple roster spots opening up.

With the salary cap in mind, below are the five players I believe the Sharks should, and possibly will, target for 2022.

FIVE TRADE TARGETS FOR: Brisbane Broncos, Canterbury Bulldogs

Rather than just name the five biggest names currently without a contract for next year and beyond, we're going to take into consideration reports and likelihood.

Let us know in the comments who you believe the Sharks should target.

2. Nicho Hynes

Earlier this season I said that the Storm utility should be the Sharks future fullback for the next 10 years. Will Kennedy's incredible rise puts paid to such comments, however I would still sign the talented youngster.

The Sharks probably lose their aces, first grade spots, in re-signing Kennedy and signing Naden (as per above). Hynes has said he is looking for a regular first grade gig, and why would anyone leave the Storm for the same role?

Cronulla have multiple questions heading into 2022, with Hynes being a possible answer to some, but possibly never a solution to any.

Hynes has played extremely well at fullback, in the halves, in the centres and even in the middle of the field. Simply put, he is the ultimate number 14.

If the Sharks don't see Connor Tracey as their long-term option on the bench, then Hynes is a serious option. He can fit in at centre, or as a back up half for the unfortunately often injured Johnson.

Tyrone May is another option but I can't see Penrith letting their ace utility option go.
