South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed rising prop Keyarn Zaro to continue his development for a push into the NRL.
Zaro will make the switch from North Queensland to Sydney to train with the NRL squad over the summer, announced by his management team Rush Sports through their social media.
Putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Rabbitohs, Zaro played for the Townsville Blackhawks in the Queensland system through the Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup competitions.
Zaro remained a consistent starter in the front row during the Cyril Connell Cup campaign this year.
He also represented QLD Country Under 17s, coming off the interchange bench to register 75 run metres in six hit-ups and three tackle breaks in a dominant 36-8 victory in April this year.
The rising prop also featured off the bench in the Blackhawks' Grand Final win over the Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Meninga Cup in May.
Rising QLD Under-19s half Taj Lateo kicked the winning field goal for a 21-20 Townsville triumph to claim the 2026 title.
Knowns for aggressive runs and a handful to get to the ground, Zaro can bend the line with ease.
South Sydney is heading in a powerful direction with the club's evolving forward pack, signing NRL's best talent Payne Haas to make the switch from Queensland to Sydney, similar to Zaro.
Some of the best forwards in the NRL will surround Zaro in Maroubra as he develops his craft, including Cameron Murray, Tevita Tatola, David Fifita and recruit Haas.
Zaro recently starred in the Brothers Under-17s Grand Final win on the weekend, scoring a try shortly after half-time in a hit-and-spin move close to the line.
He also put second row Blaize Goodwin in for a try following a nice offload in traffic, holding on for a 26-20 win against the Souths Bulls and picking up Player of the Match.
It is expected he will continue his development through the NSW junior system, with a likely start in Harold Matthews or SG Ball in 2027.
