St George Illawarra has signed Melbourne front-rower Patrick Kaufusi for the remainder of the 2019 season.

Kaufusi has played 25 games in the NRL to date, representing the Cowboys and the Storm.

"Patrick is a welcomed addition to our roster for 2019, he's a quality person from a tremendous squad and system," St George Illawarra's Director of Rugby League Pathways and List Management Ian Millward told the club's website.

"He's a player capable of playing in the middle and back row, who is keen and willing to play first grade.

"With the current spate of injuries in the team, it's a really good opportunity for Patrick and the Dragons to see what impact he can bring to the club and playing squad. From there, we can consider our options with him for the 2020 season."

Kaufusi becomes the 30th player in the Dragons' top 30 squad.

  1. Good signing, but not a lot of ex-Melbourne players are as good after they leave Melbourne (Proctor etc). We can only hope.

  2. McDudor will bring this guy back to the field real quick, but hopefully offers us more punch than Latimore.

  3. I must apologise, I was thinking of the other Kaufisi at Storm. I don’t remember much of this one. I hope us signing Patrick is not like signing Liam Foran instead of Keiran. (or Luke Burgess instead of Sam).

  4. Sorry 38er, I think he is exactly like that. Storm have had him for 2 years and the Cowboys before that and he has played just 25 games. He is a trier but just can’t break into the first team. Maybe with some games behind him in first grade at the Red V he can come good.

  5. Rucky is correct. What player under contract leaves the Storm to play for the Dragons. I don’t think he will be getting a raise in salary, and why did the Storm let him go? I hope he is good for the Dragons.
