Manly Sea Eagles forward Darcy Lussick looks likely to miss the opening rounds of 2018 after suffering an ankle injury the club’s trial match against the Cronulla Sharks.

Making his first hit-up of the match just two minutes into the game, Lussick hit the ground writhing in pain and clutching at his ankle.

Lussick was then assisted from the field by two trainers and it was clear the injury was serious.

“Not good,” Sea Eagles head coach Trent Barrett said post-match.

“We’re still waiting to see how bad it is but it doesn’t look particularly good at this stage, which is a shame for Darcy.

“He’s had a good pre-season and it was the first tackle of the game. We’ll cross our fingers and hope he’s alright.

“Trials are a necessary evil I suppose. I’m just disappointed for Darcy.”

  1. Unlucky again. Didn’t he miss start of last season with injury? This guy could have been a good hard nosed footy player but seems to never be able to string more than 10 games together because of injury or suspension.

On another note, let’s see Cam Smith avoid suspension for the blatant elbow to opponents head, just an awful act in my eyes that he doesn’t need to do

    • Yeah, recently he was one of the form props in the comp. If he can get a stretch of injury free, disciplined footy, I think he can rediscover that form.
I laughed when the commentators shyed away from talking about Cams elbow. The man’s made of Teflon.

    • He won’t be suspended, especially with the testimonial match next weekend. What I find funny is that even the reports highlighting the incident go on about how out of character it is for him. He is constantly face palming and elbowing in tackles, maybe not as bad or blatant as this one, but he is far from a clean skin.

  2. Very bad luck for Darcy.Very underrated player. As for Smith think it will be another case of move along, nuthing to see here. The guy is a grub.I dont understand ZT.Footy starts back over the weekend and there’s so much to report on and they give jack squid

  3. Lussick very underrated player who plays tough and for long minutes when needed, hopefully can get over this injury quickly and get some fitness then be back in the team..
Manly may have to make a play for tolman as heard he is being shipped around, we have young guys coming through but can’t be expected to carry the load the entire season..
As for smith, along with slater they are the 2 grubbiest players in the nrl.
Should be but won’t be suspended, start with there was nothing wrong with the tackle, and if the tackle was smith on parcel would not of even been a penalty…

  4. For you to be commenting on Smith’s elbow, it obvious you haven’t played league. At least not in the country…

  5. You are seriously delusional if you think anything will come of grub Smiths elbow.
He could pull out a cricket bat and smash someones knees with it and the judiciary would blame the other guy for running into it.
The game will be much better for it when that serial grub retires.
