The Sydney Roosters have won the 2026 premiership in a 19-18 victory over the Newcastle Knights.

Roosters fullback James Tedecso has taken out Player of the Match honours and crowned the Clive Churchill Medallist in an incredible individual performance.

Tedesco just showed why he is still one of the best players in the competition and firming as one of the greatest fullbacks of all time with yet another quality display in a big match.

Tedesco ran an incredible 385 metres in the Grand Final and popped up everywhere to limit the Knights' attack.

He finished with 14 tackle breaks with one try assist, and one line break assist, and ran the ball back in kick returns with plenty of aggression and speed to get the team on the front foot, with 170 in returns alone.

It is Tedesco's first Clive Churchill Medal after featuring in two previous deciders for the Roosters in 2018 and 2019.

Daly Cherry-Evans' field goal was the difference in the end, something he was brought to the club to do in what is an incredible prophecy that the Roosters club has fulfilled.

Naufahu Whyte likely came close to the Player of the Match honours after an incredible effort setting the tone in the Roosters' forward pack, which proved to be too strong for the Knights to handle in the second half.

The Knights were courageous to stay in the contest, but couldn't keep up with the Bondi juggernaut.

It brings the Roosters' tally of first-grade premierships to 16, with the NRLW side also taking out the title earlier in the day.
