The Dally M awards might not go ahead this year but that hasn't stopped us from naming our Team of the Year!

We've polled the fans, crunched the numbers and then ignored it all to name the best players in each position for the 2017 season.

Who makes the side and who wins the Dally M Medal in 2017?

Fullback

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - MARCH 16: Billy Slater of the Melbourne Storm celebrates with supporters in the crowd after winning the round three NRL match between the Melbourne Storm and the Brisbane Broncos at AAMI Park on March 16, 2017 in Melbourne, Australia. (Photo by Scott Barbour/Getty Images)

Winner: Billy Slater

What a comeback! After two seasons out through injury, Billy Slater returned and reclaimed the mantle as the best fullback in the game. An incredible season by anyone's standards, Slater, in 17 appearances for the Storm, scored seven tries, laid on 16 try assists and made 12 line breaks. Not to mention the incredible role he played in breaking New South Wales hearts ... again! There is no doubt he'll be there at the end of the year representing the Kangaroos yet again, and he'll be doing so as the best fullback of the modern era.

Mr Fix-it, Clinton Gutherson found his best position at fullback for the Eels and surprisingly topped Tom Trbojevic in the reader poll. I'm surprised as if I had the choice I'd sign Turbo yesterday, but Gutherson is a brilliant fullback and will be hugely missed by the Eels in the finals.
