Grand Final week is finally upon us, and what a Grand Final we have.
The two best sides across the competition, both of whom seem to be peaking at the right time.
Neither side is missing a megastar through injury or suspension either.
This game has all the ingredients to be one of the all time deciders!!!
Unfortunately that doesn't always mean a brilliant, or competitive game. We've seen Grand Final blowouts in the past, while other games have been ... ok.
Today though we are going to focus on those Grand Finals that not only lived up to but even surpassed all expectations.
Below are the top five Grand Finals since 2010 (included):
3. Sydney Roosters 14 def Canberra Raiders 8 - 2019
Yes this is the "six-again" Grand Final.
Outside of that one moment of confusion, this game was as tense a Grand Final as I can remember.
The game should really be remembered as being Cooper Cronk's Final game, where he perfectly capped off a majestic career with a second straight title.
It was thought that a team simply couldn't win back to back Premierships in this day and age. Cooper Cronk and Latrell Mitchell said otherwise!
At 14 to eight, this game may not scream entertainment but it was 80 minutes of non stop action.
At eight-all leading into the Final 10 minutes, I could have sworn this would decent into a field goal shoot out.
The aforementioned Latrell Mitchell had ideas. After a pretty quiet game by his standards, Trell burst down the left and set up the winning try with the greatest individual play of the season.
Latrell Mitchell doing Latrell Mitchell things.
Yes the fluffed six-again call had some, minor, say in deciding the result but the Roosters were just too good on the day.
I really wish this game would get the props it deservs.
