    • Also a big fan of Capewell. Hopefully he gets a run in the pack next year when Gal, Lewis and Heighington move on. I don’t think he’s really a winger.

      • Do you think Lewis might run around again >? His footy brains and defense are probably up there with the best in terms of a forward. You cant buy a 1000 games of experience with those three going.

        • I think it’s a little more likely. I feel that the Sharks were going to put Bird in the pack next year. With Bird going, I think the club will let Lewis decide if he wants another year. He is definitely playing well enough.

        • Lewis doesn’t seem to be aging of late and is still one of the better performers in the Sharks pack. His body seems to be holding up better than most and could quite reasonably go around at least one more year.
Sharks pack will suffer terribly if all of gallen, heighnington and lewis all go at the same time – and as a coach you wouldn’t want to lose 900 or so games of experience all at the same time.

  1. Don’t expect manly to win just want to see an improved performance. DCE was on fire in the opening 4 rounds, since then he’s gone missing, want to see him step up and also want see more ball to Tom. He didn’t touch the ball in the opening half against storm other than kick returns, instead dce and green relied on set plays. As soon as he touched the ball in the second half he set up 3 tries. More ball to Tom he’s our best player should use him as often as possible. And kicks to Uate in the corner seem to be effective this year, he’s really re found that confidence in the air, more of them well go along way to upsetting the Raiders. It’s also going to be interesting as both sides left edges have horrible defence but amazing attack.

    • Another test up against a massive forward pack. We’ve shown we can match it with good sides but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot.
I just don’t want to see Canberra score a try within the first few minutes! Is that too much to ask.
      Oh, and Lewis Brown again…

      • How does brown keep getting picked???? He gets limited minutes anyways, and does nothing with those minutes whilst he there… we only need 1 utility on bench and that should be Hastings or Cullen.. then AFB, myles, cause he ripping in this year lately and lussick of course. and would like lane to be given a go in starting team in place of winterstein. Anyone else think brenton Lawrence been awesome this year?? He just tries so hard he saved a couple tries last week when he didn’t need to be the one chasing, he is so underrated that bloke and glad he getting a good run of starting games

        • Lawrence has to work hard….great move getting rid of a couple of workers in defence like Symonds and Buhrer!!!!

      • Yes..Brown, Myles, Matt and Jono Wright could free up some cash at the end of the year…really need the spark of Cullen off the bench!

  2. Question for the Rabbits supporters , looking to trade in Angus Crichton in SC do you think his starting position is safe for the time being .

      • @isthegamerigged

Crichton averaged 78.5 mins in his last 2 games (77 mins (Dogs) and 80 mins (Panthers)) compared to averaging 50.75 mins for the previous 4 games. More mins equals more points in supercoach. It was one of the many contributing factors to why Corey Parker scored so highly in SC for so many years and one of the major reasons his scores plummeted in his final year when his mins dropped substantially.

If you are looking to make money (i.e. a cash cow) you may have missed the boat as he has already increased in price by $+107.9K with a rise of $+42.9K last game. He is currently projected to score 67 with a breakeven of -11 and a projected price change of $+42.7K. I don’t think his mins will drop but his form will rise and fall depending on how Souths perform from match to match IMO.

      • @chalky

Turner is not a prop (although he is having a red hot crack at it) and neither is Clark for that matter. Tom and George Burgess, Zane Musgrove and Anthony Cherrington should hold the middle of the field leaving Sam Burgess, John Sutton, Angus Crichton and Kyle Turner to attack out wide on the edges with Robbie Rochow fitting in where needed (in a team rotation obviously not all at the same time!)

  3. Raiders
    Broncos (flip of a coin)
Eels (Panthers are in horrible form)
    Cowboys
    Sharks
    Bulldogs
    Dragons (great form)
    Storm

  4. Nene McDonald is a very useful footballer with many of the essential skills, however, positional defensive qualities are not part of his array. I’ve been waiting for this Anzac clash with some trepidation, I think that Robinson will have done his work on StGeorge and that Nene will be targeted mercilessly and if that is so the Roosters should come away with a comfortable win , I also believe that Kurt Mann is a better option.

    • Agree and his hands are terrible… they will run and launch the high all at him …. Mann’s form and combination with Lafai has been great… Mann should stay , Gipsy to right wing , Nene a stint in the lower grades…. worried about this one… chooks will be very hard to beat

    • Agree too. McDonald is awful in defence, and should be given some serious coaching if he is to remain in the top grade. McGregor could also read the game a little better this week, he could have brought his top players back on earlier when the Cowboys started to get on top last weekend. This game should be the standout of Round 8.

      • I think McGregor was experimenting with the Interchange rotation right from the beginning of the game & then got caught out when it all got frantic towards the end:
        – Packer went off earlier than normal giving him 3 bursts on the field. His 3rd one was with 11 minutes to go & the Cawboys coming hard. It lasted 9 minutes with him being interchanged with 2 minutes to go.
        – Milne didn’t get on at all & Sele had the one short spell in the middle.

Also, I am not sure what Host had done wrong in the Warriors game to be dropped. He looked like he had a simple requirement & appeared to fulfil it.

  5. Kenny Edwards will bring some much needed impact off the bench for the Eels. Disappointing that he comes in for Terepo who is in for a long stint on the sidelines as he also brings some punch from the bench. I dont see the point of having Scott on the bench either, he doesn’t offer any impact at all. He either needs to start or play for Wenty.

    • i’ve been counting the days down till Kenny was back – his enthusiasm can be contagious and he offers a lot off the bench with his creativity and chatter. Its a shame Terepo has done his pec and will be out to rd 22 as he has been one of the better forwards since he came back from suspension.
Scott being on the bench is more a fact of how Brown has been playing than anything.
It will be interesting when Frank the Tank is back – BA is going to have to make a big call as based on recent form you couldn’t leave him out of the 17, nor would you leave Moeroa, Edwards, Brown or Vave out. It may be a time when one of the captains gets dropped.

      • I agree that Scott off the bench has more to do with Brown’s form, but I don’t think he is a bench player. Gone are the days when you pick your best 17 players. Now you pick your best 13 and your best bench. Sometimes you pick a player on the bench even if they are in the best 13 as they provide the impact needed (Kenny is an example of this). Scott adds nothing to the team coming from the bench, he either needs to start or not be there at all, same as Mannah.

I am not fussed if Frank doesn’t get another game, I don’t think he has been all that impressive. A few of the forwards need to up their game and consistency, Frank being one of them when he is back, as well as Matagai and Vave. Both have shown glimpses of form, but not enough IMO.

  6. Would be nice to see Tafua put on another bell ringer, and Darcy one on the chin of BJ, don’t care if we lose just want to see BJ get put in he backside
After all Manly are no hope of a Prem as the Faiders who will choke just like last year

  7. A bit of an easier time ahead for the tipsters this Round. On current form there is only one or two real contests coming up.

  8. Raiders
    Broncos
    Panthers
    Cowboys
    Sharks
    Bulldogs
Dragons, wouldn’t be surprised however if Roosters win
    Storm
