  1. gelling over papalii and paasi on the bench over bunty afoa. bunty is hopeless wouldn’t even have him driving the team bus.

    • why would he drive the team bus ? , you have a hate for that young fella ? he’s no where near as hopeless as you seem to think he is ..

  2. I agree Bunty Afoa is the work horse out of all our juniors, usually always in the top tacklers per game for the warriors.

he just shouldn’t be in the second row and has always been more of a middle man much rather him then the laziest forward in nrl Sam Lisone or the guy that only shows up to late hit halves Adam Blair.

Also I don’t know how Papali’i went this pre-season but based on last year he is still 1 or 2 years off as a full time first grader, I probably would have given the second row spot to Paasi or pulu until Mannering comes back

    • I think Sticky is sending Austin a msg to start performing. Kinda similar to what happened to Josh Reynolds at the dogs. Now Austin is gonna want that 6 jersey back, so hopefully we see his form of 2015 return. I think it’s a good move from Sticky….the same goes for Sezer.

  3. Pretty happy with our team except i was hoping Cleeland to be at 5/8 and Elliott to start over Fualalo. Glad Klemmer is back at prop and Marshall to make his debut off the bench.

  4. My only gripe with the manly team list is Brown off the bench. Why? He covers a number of postions yes but very poorly at his current state. Would have given Fainu a spot or Hastings in the 14, not Brown. Should be quality over quantity.

As for us taking on the Knights, it can go only two ways. We get ambushed and beaten by the Knights by 12 plus. Or we show our experience and win 12 plus. Wont be an inbetween game. Personally I’m feeling a little worried. Depends on how Croker goes alongside Cherry. We outclass and play them in every other spot, forwards and backline but our halves are crucial and I’m certain Pearce and Watson are a good combo, Croker is an unknown and Cherry all depends on how much pressure can be taken off of him. As much as Cherry is an elite halfback he still lacks the ability to control a team and play well, he cant do both at the same time. Hopefully Croker plays well, takes on some pressure while Cherry can just run and perform magic.

  5. I am shocked Kenny Edwards didn’t make the 17.
I would have him there over Takairangi, Moeroa or Beau Scott.

    • I’ve got to disagree.

I rate Edwards, but at the same time he worries me with his lack of discipline.

None of the 3 players you noted have the same (short term) impact on a game, but all 3 are more reliable, and add value to the team in their own ways.

      • Agree. I love Kenny and the energy he brings to the team from the bench, but he is too much of a loose canon. Of the 3 you have mentioned Kev, the only one he is really competing with is Taka. Scott is a middle forward, and Moeroa spends a lot of time playing middle forward too, he just starts on the edge. Taka and Kenny are both utility edge forwards.

It might be a message to Kenny to pull his head in a bit, don’t forget the rumours over the off season that BA was unhappy with him. It might also be that BA is concerned about the refs making their mark on the game early in the season with generally higher penalty counts, which makes Kenny a liability.

Either way I don’t think it will be long before we see Kenny in the 17, one of the great things about having depth.

  6. Well the only team that looks good is the Melbourne team and I think Newcastle will do well but to make the top 8 dont no about that. Warriors.

  7. Your dreaming Kiwistorm73. Two Rookie halves up against the bulldogs pack and a very keen Foran out to impress to spells a Dogs victory by 8

    • That’s an interesting take.

I assumed Bellamy left Slater out of the side so he could celebrate his 300th game with a win at home, and that the Bulldogs would have to wait until round 2 to chalk up their first win of the season.

P.S, only the second part of tha sentence was tongue in cheek.

  8. I would have kenny Edwards over Scott
Edwards is a better impact player, brings more energy and lifts the tempo in games, scott is almost 34 he’s days are almost over this will be he’s last season

Clint Gutherson not back till round 8
Need him back soon as possible

  9. Dragons have done zilch to fix up the defence between Lafai and McDonald. Look for teams to keep scoring a ton of tries down that side and if that fails Nightingales is good for a few per game too. Forward pack is great, but our centres are a real worry and Gypsy is too small and slow.

  10. Broncos by 10
    Knights by 8
    Sharks by 2
Roosters by 12 (i go for tigers, i guess a bit bias)
    Warriors by 6
    Storm by 14
    Eels by 4
    Raiders by 8
