The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are getting the cheque book ready for the 2021 season with a $14 million bid in preparation for Manly's Trbojevic brothers and Bronco David Fifita.

According to Fox Sports, the Bulldogs have a plan for a $10 million four-year package to bring in Jake and Tom Trbojevic from the Sea Eagles.

They are also intending to offer teenage superstar David Fifita a four-year contract worth $1 million per season.

The past two years have seen salary cap trouble for the Bulldogs but they are finally able to start making plays for big-name recruits.

Tom Trbojevic is reportedly going to be offered a deal worth around $1.4 million per season, slightly higher than his brother Jake who will get $1.1 million.

The club made contact with the brothers' agent, Paul Sutton, in August to arrange a meeting but they were told that the siblings were not interested in leaving Manly.

The Bulldogs join the Roosters, Rabbitohs and Warriors in trying to sign Broncos young gun David Fifita.

Midway through the year the Bulldogs also made an offer for Roosters and Kangaroos centre Latrell Mitchell and offered 10-year and 5-year contract options with the latter valued at more than $1 million per season.

  1. This story keeps getting recycled and it’s boring and untrue. They didn’t even give in to a meeting so why would they care about how much the dogs offer smh

  2. With that sort of money being splashed about it is a certainty the brothers will be leaving Manly.

    Ahahahahahah Ahahahahahah

What goes around comes around. Manly poachers are about to be poached. If they re-sign with Manly for less than a million each, then there has to be a Geoff Toovey style investigation.

Latest rumor getting around is Hasler is trying to get repoached by Canterbury.

  3. No turbo isnโ€™t worth that sort of money.
And itโ€™s only the bottom teams who have to pay overs for these type of players.
Would be extremely surprised if they left, and manly wouldnโ€™t of resigned Thompson/ walker/taupau recently if they thought trobovics were leaving.
They are worth 2million/year package split evenly.
There isnโ€™t a more reliable player in the nrl then Jake, and weโ€™ll everyone knows turbo potentially be the best player in nrl but injuries and some will mistakes hold him back.
Theyโ€™ll be at manly and we will hopefully even see young ben nearing first grade in 2020

  4. You do realise Bob that if a player gets a contract for 1.4m, his weekly wage is 27k per week every week for 52 weeks.
No loading for holidays I understand. Maybe the players union can jack up on that issue for the poor blokes.

  5. 1.4 compared to the 1-1.1 heโ€™ll get at manly were they both and while family are treated like royalty really means nothing.
Seems a waste of a story and digs should concentrate on players they have a chance with.

  6. The dogs would need to pay them $2m each to even get them to a meeting. If they manage to then sign them, good luck trying to get 17 players on the field with the remaining salay cap space.

  7. I’ve got to agree with Mark.mywords. If (a big IF), but if the Dogs offered that sort of coin to the Turbos, they’re gone, unless Manly could get very close at least.
If (and again, a big IF) Manly got close to those numbers, and I think they would try in order to hold the Turbos, coupled with DCE’s salary, they would have to run a lot of rookies on a regular basis. That worked (to an extent) this year, but probably won’t on an ongoing basis.
At the very least, good on you Doggies, if there’s any truth to the rumours. Bottom line, Manly already has the most expensive “top 3” in the NRL.

  8. Ah no eels manly donโ€™t have the 3 most expensive.
These boys will resign on Jake approx 900 Tom 1-1.1.
Plenty of players and worse ones above or just below them.
    Ash Taylor? Milford? Darious Boyd?
Itโ€™s the value for money you get with players not just they are paid a certain amount. All teams now weโ€™ll all the top teams have 2/3/4 players in approx a mil a season

  9. Oh yes Bob, they do (have the highest paid top 3 – combined – already).
DCE is on around $1.6mil (and I’d post support to that if ZT would let me – check the DCE article for that story), and the Turbos are currently on $1.9mil between them. That’s $3.5mil on your top 3 (now) making it the most expensive top 3 already.

  10. So let the dogs then have the 3 most expensive incl fifita and they can run their team of rookies and see how far they get. They wont have des this time and dean pay wont be able to cut it with majority no names squad. Theyll then try to offload the turbos back to manly just like theyve tried with foran

  11. ManWar, agreed.
If the Dogs, or any team sign “such n such” player/s you can’t just add that to their list and say “their now premiership contenders”, as so many seem to do.
I’m not saying having the top 3, or 2 or 4 players or whatever does/doesn’t work, but just making an observation, and adding an opinion to that.
We (Parra) in the past have tried the “top dollar” player/s approach (yes, ex Manly players) and it didn’t work (for us, at that time), but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work, or it can’t work.
All that said, I wouldn’t like having the sort of coin we’re talking about in this article tied up in so few players, especially if/when they are injured.

  12. What a load of crap. The Trbojevic brothers love Manly.
They will actually accept less to stay there. Just as they’ve stated before.

  13. Hey Eels..
I think your comments on the Eels player purchases are a back handed slap to all Penrith players. About formerly buying top dollar players. You’re saying now ,they don’t do that. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜
