NRL.com reports the Broncos included a performance-based termination clause into Anthony Seibold's contract with an agreed pay-out.

If the Broncos decided to axe Seibold the club would not have to pay the remainder of his deal, instead a minimum of 12 months salary.

So far the Broncos have declined to comment on the matter.

In recent weeks, the club has faced criticism for agreeing a five-year contract with Seibold with an option for a sixth.

There is no pressure to hold onto his job after his first season in charge but it will be there next season if the Broncos have a slow start or fail to make an impact.

In his first season with South Sydney, Seibold proved that he is capable however he didn't walk into an easy situation in Brisbane making for a tough first year.

Former coach Wayne Bennett left the club under messy circumstances before Seibold was brought in.

Brisbane may have bowed out in the first week of finals for the past two years but there has been an obvious contrast in results.

In 2018, the Broncos won 15 games of 24 and while finishing 6th, were only two points off from the minor premiers.

This year they won four fewer games and only made the finals in 8th position before being shutout 58-0 by Parramatta at Bankwest Stadium.

It is expected that heads will roll and a clean-out is likely with Seibold given control to shape the roster and set-up to his liking.

  1. I had your back Seibold but u stuck with Darius all year when he should off been dropped in round 2
If he hangs around next year u will be gone.
Seen someone posting get Lachlan Lewis from the dogs. That’s the kind of player we need.

  2. Give this guy some breathing space for F* sake. It is only his first year there, what do you want him to do, win a Championship every year? Honestly, the game is full of idiots aka ‘Lounge room Critics’.

  3. Lets put this in propective.

Bennett goes to Souths and changes nothing, no sackings no drama just gets on with it.

Siebold comes in and makes all sorts of changes from a team that was one win out of top four last year and now is a shambles.
Yep rookie coach and the Bronco’s have fu.cked up big time on this one.

  4. to win the comp Alex would be nice but all i’m after is for him to drop that wirery rat named Darius. No s–t he would rather have his last years spine instead of the rat and that other little headless chock out there called milf, bird can go aswell. replace for
    1. Holmes (speed/skill)
    6. keary (vision/takes ball to the line for team mates/kicks)
    7. Lewis (vision/takes ball to the line for team mates/kicks)
only than Seilbold could win the comp.

  5. penso. look at the spines champ. if seilbold stayed at souths they will be in the same position. if Bennett stayed at the broncos they would not even off made the 8. remember the dragons loss in last years finals,
manly lost both there second rowers but cherry could still put the 2 guys from second grade through holes to score. image if the bronco forwards had a cherry putting them through. instead the young forwards had to do everything themselves

  6. playtheball, firstly Bennett didn’t go there and change much, didn’t sack players just used what was there, Seibold couldn’t handle the pressure from what i saw, he panicked, he can talk but can’t walk, Souths have been playing not good of late, but still winning, i believe that if we get back to our early season form we can win the comp, anyway, i believe that the Bronco’s have messed up big time in signing Seibold to a long term contract, and perhaps Walters may have simplefied their teams performance, who knows , but last year Seibold was found out big time with his tactics for Souths and all players from both sides admit they knew what was coming.

Players say Seibold makes players take home a note pad after training and they don’t like that, at least Souths players didn’t, i am of the opinion he won’t last another season after 2020 and the way he left Souths , good ridden.

  7. In Seibolds defence, he did inherit a mess and had to try to rebuild an “Empire” similar to the Broncos of old that everyone expected. It was a terrible year for the Broncos, Yes, it was also their worst defeat ever, definitely. But hopefully this will get the coach looking at his training tactics and making changes there, as well as get the “Ponies ” management on side and rebuild the team the way the coach wants it to be….. I still hope that the Panthers kick their backsides next year but.

  8. No chookstir, like their fans, the Broncos are so depressed they need a “sanity-clause”, To add insult etc, I have to support a Ricky Stewart team to remain interested in the final series. Bring on next year!
