Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic is set to miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury, according to the Herald.

The 22-year old hurt his hamstring in Manly's 28-22 loss to Cronulla at Shark Park on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined for the first three to four rounds of the NRL season.

The club will not rush Trbojevic back onto the park, with Brendan Elliott looming likely as his replacement at fullback.

Elliott filled in the No. 1 jersey when Trbojevic exited the game on Saturday and will be keen to make the most of his opportunity.

In further news, props Kelepi Tanginoa and Tanieli Paseka are expected to be out for four weeks with knee injuries.

It leaves considerable holes in coach Des Hasler's team, further exasperated by the drawn out charges to Dylan Walker.

It is less than ideal conditions for Manly a month out from the season coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign.

  1. I used to think the same but now I’m of the opinion pre season games are a necessary evil to establish team structure, injuries are an unfortunate part of it.

  2. This is not the biggest issue regarding this club..Walker faces court tomorrow for being nothing but a grub. Turbo will and should get over his injury to help his side in some capacity, but if walker gets off from being NOTHING but a little grub..Greenburg needs to resign.

  3. You can’t blame this on Greenberg, or the NRL.
They need evidence they can hang their hats on in order to intervene, and without it, they’re hands are tied (legally).
If the courts find Walker guilty, I’ll bet they ban Walker for life, and I’d be happy with that.
If he’s found not guilty, they’re powerless in this case.
My guess is Walker will be found not guilty, and only because his girlfriend retracted her statement, but that’s irrelevant, because if he’s found not guilty, whatever the reason, the NRL can’t act, and nor can the club.
But let’s consider this from another perspective. Let’s assume he is found not guilty, as is likely to be the case, would you be as harsh on any club (would you call for their directors to be sacked) that signs him post his current contract?

  4. I’m not so sure Walker will get off.
For the police to proceed with the charges without the girlfriends evidence, they must have a pretty strong case.

  5. Witnesses Kev.
He’s a special pos that deserves another broken face by someone his own size and weight.
He can play NRL on the playstation all he wants after tomorrow.

  6. For the record, I think he’ll be found not guilty, but I don’t think he’s innocent.
Its got to be a pretty hard case to prove from here, especially if his girlfriend defends him.
All I can I say, and with all sincerity is, I never want to see him represent Parra. That’s not being a PC groupie, or anti Manly etc, but if the NRL has its hand tied here, and I suspect they will, the clubs can play a part defending the sport too, and I believe they should.

  7. For the record, i reckon he’ll get jail time. Suspended sentence.
manlys 2019 season from hell has officially started !
    👍

  8. I agree with you Mighty. I’m no criminal lawyer, or any kind of lawyer at all for that matter, but for Walker to to be found gulity the charge has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt – and I would have thought that might be a pretty difficult thing to prove if she doesn’t give evidence. And any verdict of a court is guilty or not guilty (i.e. the charge is proved or not proved beyond reasonable doub – the prosecution has to prove the charge, the accused doesn’t have to prove innocence), the court doesn’t give a verdict of innocence. If he’s found not guilty, how’s the NRL supposed to act? I think it’s going to be pretty hard for them if there’s no supporting evidence from the person who’s the supposed victim of what Walker is alleged to have done. I am not really supporting Walker – I just say that if disciplinary measures are taken against him there has to a sound basis of reliable evidence (as opposed to lurid allegations) against him. Hopefully the NRL has learned from (particularly) Brett Stewart, plus Teo and SKD that just because allegations are made doesn’t mean that they are true.

  10. To be honest I didn’t mind it (us signing him), because he had already served his punishments (legal and NRL).
That said, I’d be the first to admit that’s pretty tolerant / lenient / soft, whatever you want to call it, especially given his other incidents.
If Walker is found guilty and gets a decent suspension (12 months) I’d be O.K with him coming back (into the NRL) too. But this would also be very lenient given his past.

  11. Walker will be found guilty. The Police have eye witnesses and the courts have been around long enough to know that bashed wives often recant of their original statement in fear of repercussions or in Walkers wife’s case in fear of destroying her pay packet and/or his career. But there is ample evidence for the court to sentence this woman basher. 💪🐔👍
