Shockwaves were sent through the NRL landscape over the past 24 hours as Roosters superstar Sam Walker put the Roosters on hold.
Despite a huge money offer, news has spread that Walker may be willing to test his market value come November 1st, although he could still lock up an extension with the Roosters once the season is over.
With the money and opportunity on offer due to two new clubs entering the competition, Walker would be mad not to explore his options.
If he does hold out until November, there will be no shortage of suitors. Probably 14 clubs would have a look, but I'be narrowed it down to five, genuine options here.
Here are five potential landing spots for Sam Walker in 2028:
2. Sydney Roosters
Despite turning down a monster offer from the Roosters over the past few days, there's still a very good chance he stays at Bondi.
Reports indicate a four year deal worth $5 million was turned down by Walker's management. Rumours are he wants a ten year deal.
The Roosters are rightfully hesitant to offer the decade long commitment. I expect a counter offer of five to six years to be tabled.
The Sydney Roosters are very much Sam Walker's team moving forward. The partnership he's formed with Dally Cherry-Evans has thus far delivered well over expectation.
Walker will partner either DCE (pending retirement/Super League) or Hugo Savala in 2027 with Toby Rodwell also being an option.
If the Roosters were to allow Walker to test the market, it could be potential catastrophic.
The Roosters don't lose many. I believe Walker will be priority number one and still see them as firm favourites to hold onto their ace.
