Rookie Manly hooker Manase Fainu is set to face Fairfield Local Court on August 7, after it was alleged he filmed a sex act before uploading it to social media.

The Sea Eagles selected Fainu for his first grade debut last week, despite being aware of the charges and his impending court date.

The Daily Telegraph first broke the news on Friday night, after Fainu originally faced court in May, before requesting the matter be dealt with under section 32 of the mental health act.

Fainu didn't enter a plea, but was granted bail.

The police report reads Fainu “intentionally recorded intimate images without consent”, after it was alleged he engaged in consensual sex with a woman, although she was unaware she was being filmed.

It is believed the pair are known to each other.

“The integrity unity is aware of the matter and will let the legal process take its course before determining what action if any is required,” an NRL spokesman said.

The Sea Eagles have been told by the NRL they can keep selecting Fainu until a verdict has been reached in court.
