Fresh from signing a new contract with South Sydney, Sam Burgess has urged brothers George and Tom to recommit with the Redfern club.

The 29-year-old forward this week signed new deal with the Rabbitohs, reportedly worth around $1 million a season. The deal will likely see the forward finish his career at the club.

Burgess said he is delighted to re-sign with the club he has been part of since 2010 and hopes his twin brothers will join him in committing to the club.

"I'd love them to stay. I'd hate to play against them. Training against them is hard enough," Sam told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"I think we've seen this year we've been treated as individuals, not the package deal, and it's worked. The twins will go through their own process at the end of the year as well."

"They're their own people, they have their own aspirations. George has his own family with two kids, Tommy with his girlfriend and no kids, they're at different stages of their life. But ideally I'd love them to be at South Sydney. I'm sure it will work out in time."

Burgess has been a fan favourite since he arrived from the Bradford Bulls for the 2010 season.

Burgess played with a fractured cheekbone in the 2014 grand final, represented England at the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup, before returning to the Rabbitohs.

He has been declared fit for Friday night's qualifying final against the Melbourne Storm, despite a "pop" in his hamstring which forced him from the field midway through the second half of last Thursdays clash against the West Tigers.
