Newcastle has confirmed centre Jesse Ramien has been allowed to negotiate with other clubs, with the Knights set to release him.

In a statement released on their website, the Knights addressed Ramien's future with the club, with Ramien's management now given the go-ahead to negotiate with other clubs.

The full statement can be read below.

The Newcastle Knights have granted Jesse Ramien permission to negotiate with other clubs.

The decision this week to drop Ramien from the NRL side prompted discussions for the centre to find a new home.

These talks were mutual and the Knights have given Ramien’s management approval to negotiate.

The Knights wish him all the best.

  1. D Walker and Hodkinson may be leaving manly.
Damien seems to have a bit of baggage but may reach his potential under a super coach like Des.
Cust is going good but is there Any 5/8s coming on the market.

  2. Saints should go for him for the Centre’s

6 Tries all year for Aitken/Lafai combined is a disgrace.

How the Supercoach keeps them in First Grade is a mystery

  3. Ramien to replace D.Walker at Right Center; Cust, Croker to cover 5/8th, Elgey plays as backup for DCE. boom done.

  4. The Knights should look to get something back in return for him. There will be lots of clubs interested in him such as Manly, Titans, Cowboys, Bulldogs to name a few. Titans could swap Tyrone Peachey for him. Ramien and Watkins would be a good centre combo and Knights make Fittzy and Peachey there second row combo.

  5. Something fishy with this Ramien saga. It must be more off field issues than on field, because his form hasn’t been too bad apart from several handling problems a few weeks ago. He is one of the few Knights backs who can make a line break every time he has the ball. His defence is strong enough and for a young player he has a lot of potential. So he must have upset someone with his attitude or personality to get dumped like this. No second chances apparently.

  6. Reports say he has had arguements simmering away with Brown for months now and it was only a matter of time. They also say that Herman Ese’ese is free to talk to other clubs also.

Ese’ese + Ramien for Shannon Boyd + Peachey

Titans get Ramien and Watkins as a really good centre combo. They also get out of the Peachey situation, Boyd hasn’t really done a hell of a lot of impact from the bench. Ese’ese would have that impact off the bench. The Knights get out two players who are unsettled and get two former rep players. Peachey in a new environment could be a really good pick up and I think he would be handy at second row with Fittzy. Boyd gets yet another chance to redeem himself, this time in a team with more structure. He probably be asked to play a role off the bench to provide leadership and good all round game not just crash and bash impact. Looks like a win-win

  7. Very talented player needs a go, was obvious for all to see knights werent giving him enough early ball. He doesn’t have off field issues just want to be able to play. Would love him to join manly, player walker 5/8 and he and suli centres would be awesome, but doubt it would happen. Dogs will go after him I’d think

  8. All of you are wrong!
He stated he wants to come back to the Sharks before he left for that deal. Why do you think we allowed Jayden Brailey go to Newcastle and young Flanno to the Roosters in the last couple of weeks? It was to make room for Jessie plus the bulldogs want Dugan so we have the centre spot going as well.

  9. Blake and Ramien will be the Eels centre pairing, M Jennings to Newcastle! Is what I am hearing, I would love to have Ramien at the Tigers though!

  10. Shark you are right he will end up back at sharks almost sure if it, I just said it be nice to have him at manly didn’t think it would happen as he is a good centre

  11. Why would Roberts go to Canterbury Cup squad EdwoodSpencer?
Isn’t he good enough at NRL level?
You also say Cam Murray is overrated.
Ok, you are entitled to your opinion.

  12. EdwoodSpencer thank you for your clarification to my questioning of your opinion.
I suggest the majority would find your opinion comical but to your credit I know there are 3 on ZT that would agree with everything you post.
We all know who he is.

  13. EdwoodSpencer its obvious you have a negative obsession with any player who is a grass roots Souths junior, currently 26 playing at NRL level.
Rejoice in the fact that there is 1 in the NRL from grass roots juniors, despite not having much of a future and not a rep level player, is still a grass roots rooster junior.
Certain commentators remind us of this nearly every time he plays as though its something amazing that a grass roots junior has finally achieved NRL level despite not much at that.
