The Brisbane Broncos have been urged to back in coach Michael Maguire amid a difficult period for the Queensland club that has seen the reigning premiers lose 12 of their past 13 games to now sit 16th on the ladder.
Pressure is mounting on Maguire and his playing group, with the Broncos' off-season set to be a key juncture in Maguire's tenure at Red Hill.
With a call to potentially be made on the premiership-winning coach, the Loose Carry NRL Podcast's Lee Addison has backed the under-fire Maguire to steer the Broncos back to the top amid the club's "growing pains".
Addison believes Maguire's track record has him placed as the most "qualified" asset at Brisbane.
"If we wind back two years, they brought Madge in to do what Madge does," Addison said.
"I'd give Madge a 10-year contract tomorrow. He's more qualified to talk about winning premierships... he's one of the only coaches who's won premierships on both sides of the world. He's won an international title. he's won an Origin title. This man can coach.
"He's more qualified to talk about elite performance than anyone else in that organisation.
"Some of the best coaches in sports history had many growing pains in the first few years of their existence. Alex Ferguson, who built an absolute dynasty at Manchester United, took three years. He had to reform the youth development system and had to get rid of a drinking culture.
"There are parallels there, isn't there? Brisbane don't sign the best youngsters anymore because there are other clubs on their patch now, so they have to reevaluate how they scout."
