Oh I love this sport!
Two days ago I put together a landing destinations for Dominic Young. Yesterday is was David Fifita. Today it is Sandon Smith.
All three players who have contracts beyond this year. All three players I swore teams were building their futures around.
Ok, so today's news. Sandon Smith, the man who was previously most likely to join Sam Walker in the tri-colours for many years to come.
News has broken that he is being shopped. We'll take the news at face value. Of course, we all know what is really coming.
The worst-kept secret in rugby league may even have been confirmed before this drops, but for now, we focus on Smith.
Below are FIVE potential landing destinations for Sandon Smith:
The reverse Luke Keary?
I'm going to put this in the nicest way possible: The Bunnies need some new faces, especially in the halves.
Jamie Humphreys looks a real talent but is only a few games into his halves campaign. Cody Walker is struggling to stay fit, the Lewis Dodd is surely returning to England sooner than later.
If I'm Wayne Bennett, I'm taking the call from Smith's management.
Pairing him with Walker or Humphreys would be far more exciting than what is happening at the club right now.
If I'm being honest, I'm running with a Humphreys and Smith halves partnership and phasing Walker out. He's a club legend but father time is undefeated.
There's also a chance that Humphreys returns to the number nine role allowing Smith to slot in beside Walker.
As soon as I heard Smith was being shopped, the Bunnies immediately came to mind. It just makes too much sense.
