Wests Tigers veterans Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah will attempt to continue their playing careers in 2020.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported Thursday morning that the duo had informed the Tigers of their intentions to play on next season.

The report comes as a surprise, with both Marshall and Farah previously believed to be retiring at the end of the 2019 season.

The revelation may come as an unwelcomed headache for the Tigers hierarchy, as their return could throw a spanner in the works of plans for Michael Maguire’s top-30 for season 2020.

However, the allure of securing the duo on reduced deals, as well as their ability to mentor Wests’ younger players, may see the Tigers life members’ wishes to play one more season granted.

With 497 combined appearances for the club, the pair are set to meet with Wests officials in the near future to decide their futures.
