After four weeks on the sidelines, Jock Madden has been named to return for the Wests Tigers this weekend against the Sydney Roosters, but only now has the cause of injury been revealed.
As revealed by the NRL Physio, Madden underwent surgery after receiving a knee to the groin in training, resulting in a haematoma in his testicles, requiring emergency surgery just hours later.
Luckily for Madden, since he received treatment immediately, there is a 90% chance he will make a full recovery and not bear any long-term issues.

The halfback's return comes at a time when the Tigers have very little to play for.
With their season over and on a current run of eight straight losses, pride is the only thing left on the table.
The club will be looking to finish the season strongly despite difficult fixtures against the North Queensland Cowboys, Penrith Panthers and aforementioned Roosters.
As for Madden, a strong finish to the season could give the 26-year-old valuable confidence heading into the offseason, while also providing the Tigers with a clearer of idea whether he can be a long-term option in the halves.
