The Roosters have flagged their interest in centre Jesse Ramien, who was told to find a new home by the Knights last week.

Ramien, who left Cronulla and signed with the Knights on a two-year deal beginning this season, is now without a club for 2020, although the Roosters would be interested in adding him to their roster, according to Fox Sports senior reporter James Hooper.

“I think Roosters have made an inquiry, and I stress it’s only an inquiry,” Hooper said on Triple M on Sunday

Meanwhile, Sharks legend Paul Gallen has hit out at Newcastle over the whirlwind surrounding Jesse Ramien's departure from the club.

The Knights sacked the impressive 22-year-old last week amid reports that he was disgruntled at the club.

Gallen said the Knights should have handled his former teammate's situation differently.

“He didn’t want to leave Cronulla, he left Cronulla for family reasons,” Gallen told Channel Nine's Sports Sunday.

“He chose Newcastle to be closer to his daughter, and I was surprised this week at how public this whole thing has been made by Newcastle.

"I thought it should have been kept in house a little bit better, sorted out first and then if he’s asked for a release or needed a release at the end of the season, then let him go then.”

Ramien made only 17 appearances for the Knights in 2019.
