Melbourne has signed Nicho Hynes until the end of the 2020 season in a bid to bolster it's backline depth.

Hynes, who currently plays for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Intrust Super Cup, worked out with the Storm for the first time on Tuesday morning.

Melbourne's general manager of football Frank Ponissi told the club's website they had been impressed by Hynes when he trained with the Storm over the summer.

“Nicho has continued on to have a great start to the year with the Falcons, and we expect he will have a very successful career with us at Storm,” he said.

    Storm approach to players they buy post cap drama has been second to none in the game. They buy no name players and turn them into star nrl players.

    I think teams should follow this approach as there is so much talent in qld cup and nsw cup but nrl teams are so concerned with nrl experience that it blinds them from potential superstars.

    This kid was in the cowboys system and he is a fullback/Half are you telling me cowboys don’t need that? Atm this season he has recorded 3 tries 14 try assist and 14 line break assist in just 9 games.

    This kid along with plenty of other players in that comp are showing themselves to be to good for reserve grade now it’s time for nrl teams to show some balls and give these people a shot.
