Brisbane forward Korbin Sims will be sidelined for up to six weeks after having surgery to mend his broken jaw, which has angered Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.

Sims was hit by Dylan Napa late in the Broncos' win over Sydney on Friday night, with Napa's head connecting with Sims which saw him sustain the injury.

However, Napa was cleared by the NRL match committee on Saturday, which seemed to anger Bennett the most.

"I am not going to watch my players get broken jaws and remain silent," Bennett told the Courier Mail.

"When you go before the judiciary, they will ask the player, 'What was your duty of care?'

"Well ... where is Napa's duty of care?

"Korbin has had to have surgery for a broken jaw because of Napa's actions ... is this the look we want for our game?"

With Sims now on the sidelines, he joins Josh McGuire, Matt Gillett and Alex Glenn on the injury list, with all four players unavailable for selection when Bennett picks his 21-man squad to face the Eels this week.
