Former Wests Tigers boss Jason Taylor has emerged as a new candidate for the Manly coaching job, as a number of high profile coaches drop out of the race.

Michael Maguire and the Sea Eagles ceased negotiations last week, and The Mole understands Manly assistant coach John Cartwright is no longer the top option for the job.

Taylor, who has been the head coach of the Eels, Rabbitohs and Tigers in the past, has thrown his name back into the coaching ring after an impressive 2018 campaign with the Roosters.

Taylor was an attacking coach at the premiers this year, helping them to a 21-6 grand final win over the Melbourne Storm.

As is stands, Taylor will be coaching North Sydney in the NSW Cup next season, as the Roosters decided to replace him with incoming assistant coach Adam O-Brien, who joins from the Storm.
