Selwyn Cobbo has been voted the Rugby League Players Association's (RLPA) Players' Recruit of the Year after his breakout season at the Dolphins.

Voted by players, the Recruit of the Year award recognises players stepping into new environments and showing adaptability and professionalism.

Cobbo joined the Dolphins from cross-town rivals, the Brisbane Broncos, at the start of the 2026 season. The winger missed out on selection for the Broncos' grand final last year but has now become an important player at the Dolphins.

Cobbo has returned to his best form this season at Redcliffe, scoring 18 tries in 19 games. He earned himself a recall to Queensland's State of Origin side, where he went on to receive the Ron McAuliffe Medal as Queensland's best player for the 2026 State of Origin series.

Cobbo edged out the award in front of honourable recruits - Dylan Brown, Daly Cherry-Evans, David Fifita and Alofi'ana Khan-Pereira.

NRLW Wests Tigers halfback Raecene McGregor was voted for the Women's RLPA Players' Recruit of the Year.

McGregor joined the Tigers after spending three seasons at the St George Illawarra Dragons. She became a central player to the system and guided the side to their first-ever NRLW finals appearance.

McGregor was voted Players' Champion in 2022 and has now been recognised once again by the competition's players.

The halfback tallied up 11 try assists in 12 games with a total of 90 attacking kicks, placing her 2nd in the league for that statistic.

Cobbo will face the Sydney Roosters in the Dolphins' preliminary final on Friday night. The winger will be hoping to help send his team to the 2026 NRL Grand Final.
