Bulldogs prop Aaron Woods has drawn significant interest from rival clubs, despite recently signing a massive $3 million, four-year deal, but a return to the Wests Tigers is unlikely.

It is understood that several clubs are interested in the 27-year old's services, including the Newcastle Knights, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.

Canterbury are currently tied up in salary until 2021, meaning they are prepared to take calls for Woods if it will help ease their financial pain.

The Bulldogs have not yet commenced talks with the Knights or any other club regarding Woods availability, but are aware of Newcastle's interest and open to discussions.

The Knights are looking to add an experienced front-rower and are prepared to pay up, after missing out on Matt Scott and Jarrod Wallace, who re-signed with their respective clubs.

Newcastle coach Nathan Brown is reportedly interested in adding Woods for the right price, but it is not yet known what that figure could be.

Brett and Josh Morris are both set to depart Belmore at season's end, along with Greg Eastwood, with the club under the cap this season and do not need to let any players go.

"But it could be a case of short-term pain for long-term gain," a Bulldogs source told The Sydney Morning Herald.

Woods was upset about leaving the Tigers, and former teammate Matt Eisenhuth heaped praise on the former skipper.

"He's a good bloke," Eisenhuth told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"I learned a lot off him, but there will be some banter out there, he's got a bit of a mouth on him, so we'll see how we go. Hopefully we get bragging rights over him."
