Brisbane front-rowers Matthew Lodge and Tevita Pangai Jnr are in discussions with the club on contract extension, according to reports.
Using some of the space freed up by Kodi Nikorima’s Broncos exit, they’re hoping to retain both Lodge and Pangai Jnr. on three-year deals.
There were reports that Lodge, who was from Sydney, was homesick but the 23-year-old denied them:
“I don’t know what the club wants to do, but I love playing here. It’s the best club I’ve played at in my career,” Lodge said.
“I don’t know where (the homesick reports) came from.”
The Tongan international Pangai Jnr. will likely receive attention from cashed-up Sydney clubs including the Roosters.
“It won’t be about money, it never has been. It will be where I can play my best footy and where I enjoy my footy,” Pangai Jnr. said.
