Jesse Ramien's potential return to Cronulla has hit a road block, with the club still needing to find cap space to secure him, according to ntnews.com.

Cronulla are looking to acquire the centre on a four-year $2 million deal, but would first need to move on players to accommodate for his salary.

Moving contracts could prove difficult for the Sharks, who have several players tied up on multi-year deals.

Half of the club's salary cap are tied up to just six players in Shaun Johnson, Andrew Fifita, Aaron Woods, Wade Graham, Josh Dugan and Matt Moylan.

Ramien is reportedly happy to be patient at the moment and await the Sharks looking to resolve their salary cap situation.

The speedster's agent Gavin Orr told The Daily Telegraph his preference was to move to Cronulla, but revealed that Canterbury were also in the picture.

“We’ve already had discussions with the Bulldogs but at the moment we are just waiting to see where the Cronulla are at first."

  1. Half the cap is tied up in players that miss the majority of the season with injuries, especially Graham and Moylan. Money well spent.

  2. Letting Shaun Johnson go was the best bit of business for the Warriors since signing RTS. He isn’t worth 1 mil per season, he gets Injured, goes missing in big games and can kick conversions. Now all Sharkies fans know what it’s like.

The same report also says the Warriors are suppose to be signing Kurt Capewell very soon, which seems a weird buy. We have lots of salary cap space and already have Harris, Pappalii, Blair and Pulu who can play second row. If he’s on a cheap deal that’s alright tho, he’s good on D and can cover the backs.

As for the how to fix the Sharks salary cap problems, let Andrew Fifita leave. When he’s on he’s on but he’s far to inconsistent, filled with errors and lacks discipline. After him would let Dugan leave also

  3. Realistically, Sharks should be looking at offloading either Moylan, Dugan or Woods (Maybe 2 of them), Also, congrats goes to the Sharks feeder team, the mighty Newtown Jets, for winning the NSW Canterbury Cup on the weekend & goodluck against the Burleigh Bears on grand final day.

  4. Isn’t Woods already subsidised by the Dogs?
Graham would be a good fit for us, when he’s fit, but that’s the problem, and that’s the problem with several players on that list.

  5. That’s right Eels, Wade Graham is a Panthers junior as well. So he would be a perfect fit at Parramatta. 😁
I can’t see them letting him go any way.
I can’t believe that I’m reading that Cronulla supporters would want to let Moylan go? A year or two ago , he was the future at Cronulla & going to lead them to another premiership. If they let him go, fullback falls to Kennedy . Then Cronulla looks thin at Fullback.
