    • holmsey, I thought that you were too smart to believe anything that is reported in the media. How about we wait and see what the real story is with Walker and GI, and then comment.

I know you’re not being nasty like BroncoRat, but just giving an opinion. I don’t think that it is as bad as it seems at Souths.

      • No mate I completely agree, Souths are taking the right steps to get back to the top, they’ve basically signed Gagai, And Walker to fullback was a great move and should be permenant. What I meant by my comment about Walker wanting out for a good reason is he’s getting a hell of a lot less than the top players yet hes been one of the best players and is becoming a star but is earning 2nd teir back up cash. Souths should upgrade him and re sign him at the same time.

        • good to see those comments deleted quickly RE Broncomat..
basically i said it might just be that Inglis doesn’t want to hide from it.

        • They will look after Walker, they are just waiting to see what is happening to GI. Obviously they knew about this long before the media. Thanks for the constructive comments.

    • Hang on Holmsey, “Walker wants out for good reason”, obviously being he could earn more if he entered a contract today, but he didn’t sign the contract today.

The Bunnies gave him a chance to play FG, and presumably on fair terms at the time, given he accepted them. Clearly the risk the Bunnies took is paying off for them, so now he wants an upgrade.

To Walker I’d say, drink your cup of cement, and harden the f…k up. You’ll get your upgrade at the end of the contract, from the Bunnies or another club. If he chooses not to take that advice, and acts like a spoilt brat, I’d hold him to his contract, drop him from the FG side, and he’ll pay for that in the next contract he signs with another club.

You can’t have “heads I win, tails you lose” contracts between players and clubs. If he didn’t make good as a FG player, would he have given the Bunnies their ($200K p.a) money back?

      • I just think a contract upgrade for him is justified. He’s been their best player. Raiders did it with Austin and Soliola in 2015/16. But in a way those players weren’t demanding an upgrade they were rewarded. Sounds like Walker is threatening the club for an upgrade. I’d also say have a cup of cement. Managers have too big a say in the NRL these days.

        • Did you actually read the article properly.

Walkers agent who was not involved in the original contract agreement, simply stated that he deserves more and Shane Richardson said this will occur when they know what the salary cap will be next year, Walker has stated that he is quite happy at Souths and there is no issue, it is just the Telegraph stirring crap again.

      • Did he sign that contract while playing first grade though?

Also if a club shows no loyalty to it’s players then it deserves everything coming to it, I guarantee most Souths fans think Walker deserves an upgrade and would rather see him get it than the board act like a bunch of idiots. You pay your players what they are worth or you lose them.

Also good on GI for seeking help.

        • Holmsey and Paulo, I take your points, and agree to an extent, but if Walker is holding a gun to the Bunnies head, as per media reports, I’d call his bluff.

This reminds me of the Semi deal we did, when he hadn’t played FG and we signed him on a $250k p.a / 4 year deal. This one obviously paid off for Parra given Semi is an unbelievable player, and on top of a nice secure $250k p.a base for the last few years, has paid off for Semi. We offered Semi an upgrade to his $250k last year if he wanted to extend his contract with Parra (building in some future earnings into the last year of his current contract), and I think the Bunnies should do the same, but if a player says (part way through an existing contract) “I want more now, irrespective”, and spits the chewy, I’d send them back to pr primary, where they belong.

  1. Or maybe he just doesn’t want to try hide his mental condition to make it bigger than it is. . . .

  2. ZT thanks removing Bronco Matts comments, I have no problem with him if he wants to talk footy but he’s just been annoying people. Its an excellent footy site and should remain one not a place for nuciences. And also I have noticed on ZT the match centre allows you to comment on games which is a great touch and people should start using it so we can talk footy as it unfolds.

    • I didn’t see the comment, but if his past performance is anything to go by I can only imagine. Hopefully the removal of his comments was followed by a ban from the site for a spell.

  3. I don’t want to comment on other posts, I just want to wish GI all the best and hope comes back and does what he does best – playing great footy.
Good luck mate. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to watch you play and I hope it continues for a few seasons more.

  4. If Cody Walker leaves he’ll go to the Broncos (interested in him and a powerful club) or Tigers (he played all his footy there until NRL and they need a fullback).

    • If Souths don’t want him and if Dugan leaves, I’d have him at Saints in a flash. And he’d come at far less coin.

  5. Wow. I stayed away from TV, social media etc last night and woke up to this on the news this morning. I genuinely hope he gets the help he needs and is able to come back bigger and better than before.
