Tom Burgess has been ruled out of action for the first six weeks of the season due to an ankle injury.

Burgess suffered the injury during the Rabbitohs' weekend trial against the Gold Coast Titans.

The Rabbitohs will also be without another Burgess, with brother George suspended for Round 1. He was unlikely to play anyway as he recovers from hip surgery.
