Bruce Hatcher, chairman of the Queensland Rugby League, said that he was unaware coach Kevin Walters had hired the 'coach whisperer' and famous mentalist Bradley Charles Stubbs. He called the $5,500 consultation fee per hour "f***ing crazy".

Stubbs was hired to give the Maroons the winning edge in the upcoming State of Origin. One of his tactics was to ban the words "blues" and "New South Whales" from camp.

He had previously worked with Roosters coach Trent Robinson last year and Michael Maguire in 2014, both resulting in very successful seasons.

However, Hatcher told The Courier Mail that he was unaware of the 'coach whisperer' and that while Walters had been assigned a section of the budget for professional development, this was way too much money.

“I am astounded a bloke thinks he’s so good he can charge $5500 an hour. That’s f***ing crazy," he said.

“Fancy charging $5000 an hour for advice that may or may not work. I wouldn’t know surgeons who charge that and they save lives.”

He finished by saying that he and the QRL board would support Walters but are concerned about overspending.
