Kalyn Ponga has refused to commit himself to rugby league beyond the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old has previously admitted that rugby union was a future career option for him, one in which he would prefer to represent New Zealand.

He spoke to The Courier-Mail about his intention concerning league and union after 2019.

โ€œIโ€™m not focusing any further than that one, next year," Ponga said.

โ€œI donโ€™t want to look past it.โ€

Ponga has three years remaining on his contract with the Knights and is coming off a season where he impressed in his Origin debut for Queensland.

Following this, Ponga has set his sights on playing all three games for Queensland in 2019.

โ€œI was gutted when I got hurt after the first game for Queensland โ€” I want to be back in that arena,โ€™โ€™ย he told to Courier-Mail.

โ€œIโ€™ll play any position, literally. Itโ€™s a goal but not something Iโ€™ll focus on too heavily. Iโ€™ll focus on doing well at the Knights.โ€
