Queensland representative forwards Patrick Carrigan and Reuben Cotter have both been found not guilty at the NRL judiciary after contesting high tackle charges.
Brisbane Broncos forward Carrigan and North Queensland Cowboys counterpart Cotter were both slapped with Grade 1 charges from Round 23 for high shots on Jack Bostock and Jayden Campbell respectively.
The duo were both only facing minor fines that would have been upgraded had they lost, but decided to face the judiciary believing there was enough evidence to overturn the decisions, which there was.
The two hearings were completed in a combined time of just over two hours on Tuesday evening.
Cotter's shot, which came during the opening match of Round 23 against the Gold Coast Titans as the Cowboys bounced back after conceding more than 80 points against the Sydney Roosters the week before, was missed by the on-field officiating team, but saw him slapped with the charge the next morning.
Carrigan's shot was also missed during the second minute of the Broncos' topsy-turvy game against the Dolphins, which saw the now finals eliminated defending premiers go up 24-0, before conceding multiple tries to lose the game 40 points to 32.
Both players, in contesting and being successful at the judiciary, keep their charge sheets in tact and will face lower penalties should they slip up again over the closing weeks of the season.
The Cowboys are still in the mix for the finals with an easy run home and a bye to come, with a clash against the Parramatta Eels to come this weekend, while the Broncos will aim to restore some pride in a difficult home encounter against the New Zealand Warriors.
Both sides play on Saturday.
