Penrith have suffered an injury blow in their pursuit for a top four position, with young fullback Jarome Luai suffering a syndesmosis injury during the Panthers' loss to Brisbane on Friday night.

Luai will now see a specialist for the injury on his left foot, and will now be sidelined indefinitely.

Penrith will know more about the length of the 21-year-old's injury layoff after meeting with the doctor.

The Panthers will be hoping Dallin Watene-Zelezniak might return from a hamstring injury in order to replace Luai in the backline.
