Scans have confirmed Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards will be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering a grade two medial ligament tear in his left knee.

Edwards suffered the injury late in the first half during Sunday's defeat to the Dragons at Pepper Stadium.

With the final round of the regular season to be played this weekend, the injury means that Edwards might not play again this year if the Panthers don't make it to at least the preliminary finals.

Even if the Panthers do go all the way through to the Grand Final and Edwards is fit to play, it seems unlikely head coach Anthony Griffin would give him the start.

His replacement at fullback in the Panthers side to face the Manly Sea Eagles will be named on Tuesday afternoon.
