Kevin Walters has named his Origin side, one which he hopes will take the state to a 1-0 win in front of a huge home crowd.
The side looks a pretty handy mixture of youth and experience, with one major selection boilover.
We look at the big discussion points below:
The obvious selections:
Much like with the NSW side, the majority of the Queensland 17 was going to pick itself.
Despite a fair injury crisis in some spots, QLD has talent deluxe in key positions.
Ponga could very well emerge as the game's best player over the next three interstate games.
Cam Munster is one of the game's elite players, DCE is the first halfback picked in any side in the world, and Michael Morgan is pretty handy too.
Then you've got automatic selections like Arrow, McGuire, Chambers, Oates, Gagai, Kaufusi, and Papalii.
The majority of this squad was set from many weeks ago.
That left side of Ponga and Munster is absolutely key to deciding the outcome of this series.
The shock omissions:
Kevin Walters left out three players that many had in serious contention, and one considered a near lock.
Coen Hess has paid the price for his poor 2019 season to date. I don't know what it is but the Cowboys' firebrand has lacked any sort of form that made him fearsome in past years.
Gavin Cooper may have played his final Origin game after being overlooked for more youthful options.
I didn't have Cooper in my predicted 17 but I thought it would be Hess or Cooper, not neither.
The big one seems to be the non-selection of Jarrod Wallace.
With all due respect to the Titans prop, he's not exactly a game breaker but after Arrow went down injured, I'm shocked that he wasn't selected in the squad somewhere.
Arrow has been named, but even so, nearly every predicted side had Wallace off the bench.
The youngsters:
With the omissions of Cooper and Wallace, Kevin Walters has instead gone for a youthful bench.
Joe Ofahengaue has been named to make his Origin debut after a solid 2019 for the Broncos.
Dylan Napa has been named instead of Wallace, although most assumed Napa would be selected if fit.
The big move comes in naming 19-year-old David Fifita.
Fifita has in effect been chosen over Gavin Cooper and Coen Hess for the second-row bench spot.
I like this decision. He's in far better form than Hess and offers 10+ years of Origin potential, whereas Cooper looks as though his rep career is winding down.
It's a risk as the stage to debut on will be huge and full of pressure for young Fifita, whereas Cooper has a wealth of experience at this level.
Bold statement from Walters.
No specialist number nine:
One of the big talking points must surely be the lack of a genuine, full-time number nine named by QLD.
Given an injury to the favourite in Jake Friend and likely back up Andrew McCollough, this is hardly a shock, but a risk all the same.
Ben Hunt has played at number nine for the Kangaroos so it's not as though they're shifting someone without experience, but Hunt hasn't played hooker since late last year.
Moses Mbye is the utility and is a fullback, or a half, or a centre. He has a few games at nine from memory but not in a long time.
Hunt will have to make more tackles than usual and will surely be a target now.
HUGE risk considering Jake Granville is playing well as of late.
The shock selection:
Despite the talk late on, I did not see the selection of Tigers fullback Moses Mbye coming.
No disrespect to the talented, and genuine utility player, but his name just wasn't on my radar. Judging by the reaction on social media, I was not alone in this line of thinking.
This could be a masterstroke if it works in the way Ponga's selection did in 2018, although Moses is hardly in Ponga-like form.
Much like Wighton, I don't know what the plan is here. Surely Mbye doesn't spend too much time, if any, at nine.
One of the stranger theories I heard was that Mbye could shift to centre if Latrell bosses his opponent. Surely not. Surely they don't pick Morgan or Chambers if they don't believe he can do the job.
This looks like a roaming role and could provide a masterstroke, but a move that certainly shocked me.
