November 1 NRL contract bible: Every player off-contract, key storylines, rumours, major moves for every club

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G19Ps-uSrmQ November 1 has arrived, and as of today, over 150 players off-contract at the end of 2027 are available to negotiate with rival outfits. Zero Tackle have unpacked every club's off-contract list, worked through all the rumours and trasnfer speculation, and put together a complete club-by-club guide to November 1 as teams switch attention to roster building for 2028. Use the drop down menu below to choose the club you want to read about, or head to the YouTube video above for all the information in video format. Brisbane Broncos Players off-contract at end of 2027 Cameron Bukowski, Phillip Coates, Dane Gagai, Ben Hunt, Josiah Karapani, Deine Mariner, Blake Mozer, Hayze Perham, Ben Talty, Aublix Tawha, Xavier Willison Current 2028 squad Mitch Barnett, Shawn Blore, Patrick Carrigan, Wilson De Courcey, Tom Duffy, Ezra Mam, Cory Paix, Jonah Pezet, Jordan Riki, Preston Riki, Va'a Semu, Kotoni Staggs, Antonio Verhoeven, Reece Walsh, Billy Walters Linked to Sam Walker State of play The Broncos have exactly half of their 2028 squad locked away as November 1 arrives, and plenty of work to do. Ben Hunt and Dane Gagai will almost certainly retire at the end of 2027, while all speculation points towards Xavier Willison re-signing in the coming weeks. Michael Maguire's side will also likely try to re-sign a number of young talent, while an early link to Sam Walker is hardly a surprise, even with Tom Duffy and Jonah Pezet signed for 2028. No other public links yet, but expect the Broncos to be busy as they try to turn things around. Canberra Raiders Players off-contract at end of 2027 Sebastian Kris, Myles Martin, Matty Nicholson, Xavier Savage, Joseph Tapine (player option), Matthew Timoko (player option), Hudson Young Current 2028 squad Coby Black, Sione Finau, Lipoi Hopoi, Zac Hosking, Jaiyden Hunt, Daine Laurie, Ata Mariota, Noah Martin, Owen Pattie, Joe Roddy, Ethan Sanders, Simi Sasagi, Malachi Smith, Ethan Strange, Jed Stuart, Savelio Tamale, Mark Tuialii, Kaeo Weekes Linked to Liam Martin State of play The Raiders have 18 players signed for 2028, and could add more if Joseph Tapine and Matthew Timoko take up options in their contracts as expected. What is almost certain is that Hudson Young will leave the club, with the second-rower having a contract offer pulled off the table last week after the deadline came and went. Liam Martin is the new target, while the Raiders also have to make a call on Sebastian Kris, who has been linked to multiple clubs in recent months. Xavier Savage is the other worry, still sitting off-contract, while the green amchine are understood to be in talks with Matty Nicholson. Canterbury Bulldogs Players off-contract at end of 2027 Sosaia AAlatini, Matt Burton, Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Samuel Hughes, Max King, Jethro Rinakama, Jaeman Salmon, Jeral Skelton, Logan Spinks, Mitchell Woods Current 2028 squad Jaxson Allen, Stephen Crichton, Lachlan Galvin, Harry Hayes, Bailey Hayward, Alekolasimi Jones, Viliame Kikau, Jacob Kiraz, Finau Latu, Freddy Lussick, Jesse McLean, Kaawyn Patterson, Jacob Preston, Leo Thompson, Connor Tracey, Enari Tuala, Sitili Tupouniua, Jack Underhill, Connor Votano Linked to Luron Patea AJ Brimson Joash Papalii State of play The Bulldogs have plenty of questions around the state of their squad moving forward, and maybe the biggest is Matt Burton, who has been given permission to test the open market early. It's understood he wants to play five-eighth, and won't be doing that at Belmore. The Bulldogs could well chase a halfback, although haven't been formerly linked to one yet, while Phil Gould has played a typical dead bat to most of the links that have been made regarding the blue and white. Cronulla Sharks Players off-contract at end of 2027 Thomas Dellow, Brad Fearnley, Harrison Hassett, Liam Ison, Riley Jones, Oregon Kaufusi, William Kennedy, Briton Nikora, Teig Wilton Current 2028 squad Blayke Brailey, Billy Burns, Jesse Colquhoun, Felix Fa'atili, Addin Fonua-Blake, Tuku Hau Tapuha, Thomas Hazelton, Nicho Hynes, KL Iro, Leo Jaques, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Riley Pollard, Hohepa Puru, Sam Stonestreet, Braydon Trindall, Owen Trout Linked to Jack Williams Jack Bostock State of play The Sharks are in something of a mini rebuild, with plenty of players on the way out at the end of 2026, and probably more at the end of 2027. The latest link for the club is Jack Bostock, indiciating they aren't quite happy with their back five moving forward at this stage, while there is also talk they will make a play for off-contract Parramatta forward Jack Williams, who was a club junior before he moved away. Of the off-contract list, Teig Wilton, Briton Nikora and William Kennedy are all set to explore options, while the club also need to make a call on rising fullback Liam Ison. Gold Coast Titans Players off-contract at end of 2027 Cooper Bai, Adam Chrisensen, Jaylan De Groot, Siale Faeamani, Max Feagai, Moeaki Fotuaika, Tony Francis, Brock Gray, Lachlan Ilias, Sunny Kama, Oliver Pascoe, Josh Patston, Chris Randall, Luke Sommerton, Jensen Taumoepeau Current 2028 squad Jai Billish, AJ Brimson, Jayden Campbell, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Beau Fermor, Jojo Fifita, Klese Haas, Luke Hanson, Arama Hau, Mawene Hiroti, Keano Kini, Fynn Laffranchi, Kurtis Morrin, Tyler Pereira Linked to Harry Grant State of play The Titans have plenty of wiggle room in the negotiation window for 2028, and probably even more with the looming departure of AJ Brimson. The star fullback who has been shuffled to other positions will almost certainly leave before the start of 2027, with the PNG Chiefs looming as his likely 2028 destination once he finds a stop-gap measure for the next 12 months. Elsewhere, the Titans will lose Cooper Bai, and could have another mini clean out with plenty of players still off-contract at the end of 2027. They are also set to throw the kitchen sink at Harry Grant, which will mean at least one of Oliver Pascoe or Luke Sommerton departs. Manly Sea Eagles Players off-contract at end of 2027 Luke Brooks, Hugo Hart, Lehi Hopoate, Caleb Navale, Jackson Shereb, Ben Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Tom Trbojevic, Navren Willett Current 2028 squad Ethan Bullemor, Kayliss Fatialofa, Clayton Faulalo, Josh Feledy, Jamal Fogarty, Kobe Hetherington, Tolutau Koula, Simione Laiafi, Ashton Large, Onitoni Large, Toni Mataele, Davvy Moale, Haumole Olakau'atu, Taniela Paseka, Jason Saab, Jake Simpkin, Starford To'a, Brandon Wakeham, Joey Walsh Linked to Nil State of play The Sea Eagles actually look relatively set heading in to 2028, with plenty of players signed and a squad that should be on the improve. Their biggest bits of business appear to be working out the future of Jake and Tom Trbojevic, and shipping Luke Brooks on - it has been theorised that could even happen prior to the start of 2027. They also need to move quickly to lock up Lehi Hopoate and Caleb Navale. Melbourne Storm Players off-contract at end of 2027 Xavier Coates, Jack Hetherington, Jack Howarth, Eliesa Katoa, Josh King, Ativalu Lisati, Cameron Munster, Josiah Pahulu, Trent Toelau, Kelma Tuilagi, Stefano Utoikamanu, Manaia Waitere Current 2028 squad Jai Bowden, Cooper Clarke, Sua Fa'alogo, Harry Grant, Stanley Huen, Jahrome Hughes, Jamayne Isaako, Oryn Keeley, Moses Leo, Trent Loiero, Alec MacDonald, Hugo Peel, Adam Pompey, Gabriel Satrick, Hayden Watson, Bronson Xerri Linked to Cooper Bai State of play The Storm are the club who appear to be in the most danger on November 1, with a host of big names still off-contract. As it stands, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Stefano Utoikamanu lead the list testing the open market - and being likely to be offered big deals. Xavier Coates, who missed all of 2025 injured, is also on the market, while Eliesa Katoa is in the same situation but less of a rush given he still hasn't been cleared to play the sport again. The Storm are also entering a three-horse race for Cooper Bai, with the club believing they need more in the middle third. Newcastle Knights Players off-contract at end of 2027 Matt Arthur, Bradman Best, Mat Croker, Harrison Graham, Peter Hola, Fletcher Hunt, Asu Keapaoa, Jacob Saifiti, Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana, Pasami Saulo, James Schiller Current 2028 squad Dylan Brown, Thomas Cant, Phoenix Crossland, Lachlan Crouch, Diesel Hagan, Cody Hopwood, Matthew Hunter, Dylan Lucas, Francis Manuleleua, Greg Marzhew, Jermaine McEwen, Trey Mooney, Marata Niukore, Kalyn Ponga, Fletcher Sharpe, Sandon Smith, Toby Winter, Dominic Young Linked to Jack Bostock State of play The Knights have one big question - Bradman Best's future. The star centre is back at the negotiating table with the Knights, but latest reports suggest he is leaning towards leaving the club. The Knights salary cap is certainly stretched, led by the deals for Dylan Brown and Kalyn Ponga, but they are a club on the rise, and are pretty well set heading in to 2028. They have been linked with Jack Bostock, but only expect that to happen if they lose Bradman Best - and Bostock could be off the market by then. New Zealand Warriors Players off-contract at end of 2027 Rocco Berry, Kurt Capewell, Samuel Healey, Ali Leiataua, Te Maire Martin, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Riley Price Current 2028 squad Grant Anderson, Tanah Boyd, Erin Clark, Wayde Egan, James Fisher-Harris, Jackson Ford, Leka Halasima, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava, Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Jacob Laban, Jye Linnane, Sam McIntyre, Haizyn Mellars, Jason Salalilo, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Taine Tuaupiki, Demitric Vaimauga, Will Warbrick, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak Linked to Nil State of play The Warriors haven't been linked with anyone, and that's not a surprise. The recent re-signing of Wayde Egan gives them 20 players on the books for 2028 already, leading the league in terms of stability. The salary is also stretched, and all Andrew Webster and his staff will be looking for is little upgrades to try and get them over the hump in September. Expect Ali Leiataua to be the re-signing priority, while Kurt Capewell will also need to make a call on whether to retire or play on. There has also been talk around Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Taine Tuaupiki both investigating the Super League, while Samuel Healey will leave at the end of 2027, having been given permission to explore his options early. North Queensland Cowboys Players off-contract at end of 2027 Coen Hess, Kaiden Lahrs, Zac Laybutt, Soni Luke, Jeremiah Nanai, Jason Taumalolo Current 2028 squad Braidon Burns, Joe Chan, Tom Chester, Jake Clifford, Reuben Cotter, Tom Dearden, Robert Derby, Sione Katoa, Heilum Luki, Reed Mahoney, Thomas Mikaele, Griffin Neame, Jaxon Purdue, Jesse Ramien, James Walsh Linked to Sam Walker State of play The Cowboys have exactly half of their squad signed for 2028, leaving them with the ability to do plenty from November 1. They will need to as well, with Todd Payten looking to flip parts of his squad again. It's understood Jeremiah Nanai is likely to leave, and while Jason Taumalolo may play on, it would be on a reduced wage, opening up salary cap space. There is also the ongoing Tom Dearden rumour, and while it has been shut down again by the man himself, it refuses to go away that he wants to come to Sydney, and now could be in a player swap with Sam Walker. Parramatta Eels Players off-contract at end of 2027 Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Doorey, Harrison Edwards, Jezaiah Funa-Iuta, J'maine Hopgood, Kitione Kautoga, William Latu, Luca Moretti, Araz Nanva, Joash Papalii, Junior Paulo, Jordan Samrani, Bailey Simonsson, Ryley Smith, Jack Williams Current 2028 squad Teancum Brown, Tallyn Da Silva, Charlie Guymer, Isaiah Iongi, Brian Kelly, Spencer Leniu, Mitchell Moses, Christopher Petrus, Saxon Pryke, Jaydn Su'A, Ryda Talagi, Lorenzo Talataina, Sam Tuivaiti, Ronald Volkman Linked to Bradman Best Blaize Talagi State of play The biggest issue for the Eels is clearly getting ther re-signing of Jack Williams over the line. The versatile forward was one of the best in the competition during 2026, and the Eels view him as a big part of the club moving forward. The rest of the off-contract list probably won't be a rush job for the Eels as they work through a range of issues. The biggest of those will be their salary cap and what it looks like if they manage to poach star centre Bradman Best off the Newcastle Knights, who they have been heavily linked with. Penrith Panthers Players off-contract at end of 2027 Tom Ale, Nathan Cleary, Sione Fonua, Kalani Going, Moses Leota, Liam Martin, Isaiah Papali'i, Luron Patea, Billy Scott, Blaize Talagi, Isaah Yeo Current 2028 squad Paul Alamoti, Zakauri Clarke, Jack Cogger, Jaxen Edgar, Dylan Edwards, Luke Garner, Thomas Jenkins, Mitch Kenny, Casey McLean, Billy Phillips, Lindsay Smith, Izack Tago Linked to Nil State of play The Panthers haven't been linked to anyone on the open market, and with good reason. Their entire priority right now is re-signing star players. Isaah Yeo is understood to have already agreed to terms, although no announcement before November 1 will raise eyebrows. Liam Martin and Nathan Cleary are also in negotiations, with the club desperate to keep them. Moses Leota, who has been testing his value for some time, is also off-contract but won't be negotiated with until the former three make contract calls. Perth Bears Players off-contract at end of 2027 Nil Current 2028 squad Mason Barber, Emarly Bitungane, Jack Cole, Josh Curran, Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui, Maverick Geyer, Liam Henry, Corey Horsburgh, Kit Laulilii, Luke Laulilii, James McDonnell, Nick Meaney, Harry Newman, Mikolaj Oledzki, Niwhai Puru, Jope Rauqe, Sean Russell, Toby Sexton, Gehamat Shibasaki, Luke Smith, Morgan Smithies, Tyson Smoothy, Scott Sorensen, Jonathan Sua, Siosifa Talakai, Apa Twidle, Chris Vea'ila, Blake Wilson, Tyran Wishart Linked to Matt Burton Cameron Munster Cody Walker Latrell Mitchell State of play The fact the Bears are a new club means their entire squad have signed at least two-year contracts, and they have little in the way of wiggle room for 2028 as it stands. They will almost certainly have release requests given their distance and likely on-field performance though. That leaves them with the ability to target players, and chase big names. They have been linked to some already, with Cameron Munster the most realistic play. South Sydney Rabbitohs Players off-contract at end of 2027 Euan Aitken, David Fifita, Thomas Fletcher, Bronson Garlick, Jonah Glover, Campbell Graham, Matthew Humphries, Elijah Keung, Edward Kosi, Peter Mamouzelos, Latrell Mitchell, Tyrone Munro, Talanoa Penitani, Latrell Siegwalt, Jayden Sullivan, Isaiah Tass, Jack Wighton Current 2028 squad Tallis Duncan, Maddax Fui, Jye Gray, Payne Haas, Lachlan Hubner, Dayne Jennings, Sean Keppie, Cameron Murray, Brandon Smith, Tevita Tatola, Dean Tauaa, Ashton Ward Linked to Sam Walker State of play The Rabbitohs have a long list of players still off-contract on November 1, and ultimately, that comes down to the club not being sure of their own salary cap. It's believed David Fifita is about to re-sign, but the biggest name on the list, Latrell Mitchell, won't resume negotiations until at least March. That leaves plenty of question marks for a club who have already been linked to Sam Walker given their shortage at halfback, although Wayne Bennett shut it down pretty quickly. If Mitchell does move on, the money could be redistributed in his direction, with the Rabbitohs also needing to make a call on Campbell Graham and a host of young players led by Latrell Siegwalt. St George Illawarra Dragons Players off-contract at end of 2027 Hayden Buchanan, David Fale, Kyle Flanagan, Clint Gutherson, Valentine Holmes, Josh Kerr, Lyhkan King-Togia, Cyrus Stanley-Traill, Moses Suli, Nick Tsougranis, Setu Tu, Leeroy Weatherall Current 2028 squad Daniel Atkinson, Ryan Couchman, Toby Couchman, Scott Drinkwater, Dylan Egan, Jacob Halangahu, Keaon Koloamatangi, Jacob Liddle, Luke Metcalf, Kodi Nikorima, Loko Pasifiki Tonga, Kade Reed, Phillip Sami, Hamish Stewart, Jacob Webster Linked to Jack Bostock Matt Burton Samuel Healey State of play The Dragons major rebuild will continue in to the 2028 season, with the club likely to not offer new deals for the likes of Clint Gutherson, Valentine Holmes, Moses Suli and Kyle Flanagan among others. Their six new signings, and six re-signings, for 2027, leave the club now looking for outside backs, and it's understood they are red-hot favourites to land Jack Bostock from the Dolphins. They have also been linked to Matt Burton in a move that potentially wouldn't make much sense given his desire to play five-eighth and the arrival of Kodi Nikorima in Wollongong. The club also need a back-up dummy half and have identified Samuel Healey as the man to do that as he prepares to leave the Warriors. Sydney Roosters Players off-contract at end of 2027 Egan Butcher, Nat Butcher, Salesi Foketi, Taylor Losalu, Victor Radley, Cody Ramsey, Billy Smith, James Tedesco, De La Salle Va'a, Sam Walker Current 2028 squad Rex Bassingthwaighte, Lindsay Collins, Reuben Garrick, Benaiah Ioelu, Reece Robson, Toby Rodwell, Hugo Savala, Blake Steep, Robert Toia, Naufahu Whyte, Siua Wong Linked to Cooper Bai Tom Dearden Herbie Farnworth Ethan Strange Stefano Utoikamanu State of play The Roosters have the most work of any club to do on November 1, with just 11 players signed for 2028. Sam Walker's now looming departure will free up yet more money, and while it's believed they are about to re-sign Salesi Foketi, and James Tedesco will play on for an extra year, they still could lose Victor Radley and Billy Smith. The club have been linked to a long list of elite talent, and while Ethan Strange and Tom Dearden have both poured cold water on the idea of replacing Sam Walker, all of Stefano Utoikamanu, Herbie Farnworth and Cooper Bai could be Bondi-bound. The Dolphins Players off-contract at end of 2027 Jack Bostock, Herbie Farnworth, John Fineanganofo, Tom Flegler, Trai Fuller, Felise Kaufusi, Morgan Knowles, Connelly Lemuelu, LJ Nonu, Elijah Rasmussen, Sebastian Su'a, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow Current 2028 squad Kain Anderson, Selwyn Cobbo, Kurt Donoghoe, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Zac Garton, Tom Gilbert, Isaiya Katoa, Killarney Lavender, Jeremy Marshall-King, Francis Molo, Tevita Naufahu, Max Plath, Brian Pouniu, Brad Schneider, Lewis Symonds, George Williams Linked to Nil State of play The Dolphins, who did lock down Selwyn Cobbo and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki in the lead-up to November 1, have a very, very stretched salary cap. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow reportedly re-signing on over a million dollars per season hasn't helped that either. As it stands, the club are likely to lose both Jack Bostock and Herbie Farnworth at the end of 2027, and Tom Flegler is also weighing up his options. That could free up money to raid the open market, but the Dolphins will want decisions quick smart from their star trio so they can play effectively. Wests Tigers Players off-contract at end of 2027 Latu Fainu, Tyson Frizell, Patrick Herbert, Royce Hunt, Kurt Mann, Fonua Pole, Ethan Roberts, Junior Tupou Current 2028 squad Javon Andrews, Jack Attard, Jake Averillo, Jayden Brailey, Jahream Bula, Adam Doueihi, Samuela Fainu, Sione Fainu, Jared Haywood, Apisai Koroisau, Heamasi Makasini, Taylan May, Terrell May, Kai Pearce-Paul, Solomone Saukuru, Alex Seyfarth, Tino Tavana, Sunia Turuva, Alex Twal Linked to Sam Walker State of play The Tigers have already been naturally linked to Sam Walker, and more players could follow - they have 11 spots left for 2028, and outside of Latu Fainu and Fonua Pole, they may be content to let the entire group go. Tyson Frizell will almost certainly retire, while Kurt Mann could be retained for an extra year if he wants to play on from an experience point of view. A dismal fade out in 2026 means the Tigers want more in the way of change though, and so it would be a surprise if they don't have a big crack at a handful of players. Despite already having 19 players signed, their salary cap is not stretched, with a number of those players younger, and Jarome Luai departing at the end of 2026. PNG Chiefs Current 2028 squad Alex Johnston, Matty Lees, Zac Lomax, Jarome Luai, Joseph Manu, Brian To'o, Connor Watson Linked to Cooepr Bai AJ Brimson Cameron Munster Sam Walker Hudson Young State of play The Chiefs already have seven signings, but some concern has been raised around the state of the squad and salary cap. While they do have tax-free money to play with, they are still bound by the same salary cap for 2028 as every other club. They have already spent plenty of money - an estimated $4.5 million across their seven players - and are yet to sign a hooker, a halfback, or a serious motor to their forward pack. That will be the focus from November 1 for Willie Peters, Michael Chammas and the recruitment staff in Port Moresby.
