The Cowboys have exactly half of their squad signed for 2028, leaving them with the ability to do plenty from November 1.
They will need to as well, with Todd Payten looking to flip parts of his squad again.
It's understood Jeremiah Nanai is likely to leave, and while Jason Taumalolo may play on, it would be on a reduced wage, opening up salary cap space.
There is also the ongoing Tom Dearden rumour, and while it has been shut down again by the man himself, it refuses to go away that he wants to come to Sydney, and now could be in a player swap with Sam Walker.
