The Wests Tigers have signed Sydney Rooster Ryan Matterson on a three-year deal which sees him join the club for 2019 and beyond.

The promising young forward has inked the new deal with the Tigers that sees him at the joint venture until the end of the 2021 season.

The 23-year old has played 57 games since making his first-grade debut for the Sydney Roosters back in 2016 against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The back-rower has enjoyed a great 2018 season, scoring five tries, making 672 tackles at 90.3% and tallying up a total of 1648 running metres.

Matterson has been a standout junior representative player, playing for both the NSW Under 20's and the Junior Kangaroos in 2014.

In 2016, Matterson made his senior representative debut for City Origin where they won 44-30 over Country Origin.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he is looking forward to what Matterson has to offer to the club.

"Ryan is a talented young man and we're very pleased to have him join the club next season," Cleary told the club's website.

"He has developed in to a quality forward since his debut and we're looking forward to seeing him grow further at Wests Tigers over the next three years."

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe has also echoed Cleary's comments saying he has welcomed Matterson to the club with open arms.

"Ryan is another excellent addition to our playing squad and we're all looking forward to having him for the coming three seasons," said Pascoe.

"We've worked hard to bring players to the club who will have an impact on and off the field and Ryan is another great example of this."

Matterson will currently finish off the season with the Roosters as they look to make the Grand Final since 2013 before linking up with the Tigers for the 2019 pre-season.
