2016 was a historic year for the Cronulla Sharks, with the club ending their 50-year title drought.

It had also been 19 years since Cronulla had even made a Grand Final appearance but that isn't the longest active drought.

That record goes to the Canberra Raiders, with the ACT club now going 23 years without an appearance in the big dance. The Raiders last appeared in a Grand Final back in 1994 when they beat Canterbury 36-12 at the SFS.

It's also been more than ten years for the next three longest Grand Final appearance droughts, with the Newcastle Knights (16 years), Penrith Panthers (14 years) and Wests Tigers (12 years) all having quite the dry spell.

Luckily for these clubs, they all won the Grand Final in their last appearance.

Not so for the Parramatta Eels. They last appeared in a Grand Final back in 2009, a drought of only 8 years. It's been a lot longer drought though when it comes to winning a premiership. The Eels haven't won a grand final since beating arch-rivals Canterbury way back in 1986!

Nine clubs have now gone 10 years or more without winning a premiership, with the New Zealand Warriors (22 years) and Gold Coast Titans (10 years) still yet to enter the record books as premiers.
