The Wests Tigers have released a statement surrounding reports that surfaced on Thursday morning regarding a contracted player.

Fox Sports reported that forward Michael Chee Kam was charged with assault over the weekend, with the Tigers now confirming one of their players was involved in an incident.

The Tigers' statement can be seen in full below.

Wests Tigers have been made aware of an incident involving a player on December 30, 2018.

The club is working with the NRL Integrity Unit on the matter and will be making no further comment at this stage.

  1. Sick and tired of these idiots bringing down the NRL and their respective clubs…with their irresponsible acts.

Once charge they should be stood down immediately and their contracts torn up and kicked out of the NRL for good if charged.

  2. You just support such a terrible club the sooner the nrl kick that stain of a club out of the competition the better along with there clueless and useless fans

  3. You can hardly put all the blame on the club for the actions of an individual. If that were the case parra would be kicked out of the comp for haynes actions. It would be like sending your parents to prison for a crime you had committed.

  4. Why all this criticism calling the Tigers a grub club.? At least they have the same salary cap as most other Sydney clubs (except one which appears to have an unlimited cap). They aren’t proped up by money from the instigator of the Super League war like some interstate clubs. They haven’t poached other clubs contracted coaches and there coaches don’t seem to have been involved with illegal substances and breaking NRL sanctions on coaches contacting club employees while being banned.

Look elsewhere for grub clubs. There are plenty of them but the Tigers are well down the list.

  5. Correct JTG1231, don’t understand how you can blame the club. Toddy123 and Kev should be on the NRL board with their kneejerk reactions and Toddy can’t spell anyway.

  6. Apparently there was nothing to answer for. Truth lies a little closer to home hey Sammy Boy, where Phoebe isn’t turning blind eye as Souths and NRL did. Mind you Souths have a steeped history with not holding players accountable. Sutton, Burgess, Walker, Burgess, Gray.

  7. The good old “Judge, Jury, Executionor”, and based purely on specious reasoning, unless of course you gentlemen know the couple intimately.

  8. It may well turn out to be a little bonus for the Tigers.
They need to free up cap space (not that he’d be on big bucks), and I think it’s fair to say Chee Kam isn’t the biggest (potential) loss from their squad, if he is found guilty.

  9. Hasn’t Chee Kam been in strife before, I can’t recall? As for you blokes/guys’ wanting to know the ins and outs of a couples relationship go read womans weekly and sit around with your wife or husband over a cup of tea and talk gossip there.

  10. There’s a lot more evidence to suggest it (activity which brought game in to as much disrepute as anything else that’s gone down last 4 months) happened rather than it didn’t eelsalmighty. How do you equate it as specious aka superficial? It happened. It got out. He lied. Souths and the NRL didn’t act.

And that’s just what was presented to Jo Public. And the quantity of that equates to more than 90% of the ‘opinion’ that gets trundled out here, including by you. So how does it all go unpublishable when every other club is taking action?

  11. Expect to see Easffs sign statement up after being released by the Tigers. No effect on their cap either i reckon.

  12. The way I see it, and for the record I actually couldnt care less, because it’s none of my business, but:
    A. Sam wasn’t found guilty of anything, although there were a lot of media reports about this alegid nothing.
    B. He separates from his wife.
Those 2 issues are then assumed to be related, and now A + B = C. I view that as specious reasoning.

  13. “Why all this criticism calling the Tigers a grub club.? At least they have the same salary cap as most other Sydney clubs (except one which appears to have an unlimited cap)”

A typical bitter comment from somebody that supports a pathetic failing club, I bet your sick of being a bottom feeder? I’ll tell you why your stain is a bottom feeder, because somebody at your joke of a merged club thought it would be a good idea to bring back benchy and Farah. Tigers will NEVER win a comp again

  14. I view it as ignorance and inconsistent application of player expectations under the banner of integrity of the NRL. All the evidence in the world that it came from NRL players account with multiple NRL players involved. Then, that it wasn’t reported to the NRL and a what looks and smells like a cover up tried to take place. And as I said all from a club which has a history with doing similar.

  15. Your obession with me is very disturbing woodduck, this isn’t even a souths / easts story, I guess telling the truth about Easts really hurts hey, just can’t stop trying to convince everyone that Easts are the good guys and are great for rugby league when everyone knows the opposite, this must be really killing you hey, and has for madrooster, he clearly knows more than the ex copper lady from the NRL who sat in the investgations and found no evidence against Sam at all, just two low life Easts people who love kicking people when their down, Sam and his wife should be left alone to work out their problems, the only ignorant person here is madrooster and woodduck, at least eelsalmighty has a sensible take on all this.

  16. Hey Penso, go back and read the comments on the “storm come back to the pack” story.
You will find it very revealing.

  17. Madrooster, so what exactly would you like to see done?
Sam wasn’t found guilty, but assuming he was, do you want the club (their members, supporters etc) disadvantaged by a player’s personal/off field actions?
I’d assume it’s not about Sam, but if it is, and based on the reasoning from above, surely he’s paying a very hefty price through his relationship situation, but do you still want more?
As per above, I’m not really that interested in a player’s personal life, well not this sort of stuff anyway.

  18. Pretty straight forward actually. All behaviour bringing game in to disrepute should be punished, as players have had done before. Not covered up, not down played, not excuses. Canberra Raiders would be the ones who should feel most agreived. They have always held their players accountable and watched others get away with assortment of minor and major behaviours. We see one club stand players down through investigation, where others continue to play. Between the Burgess brothers, the trip to Arizona and Walker/Gray drug night there’s a conclusion to be drawn about differentiation of penalties for players and ways club treat incidents.

So step outside of the ‘private life’ defence as it’s nothing to do it with it.

  19. Thanks screamineagle for the heads up, didn’t get into that story on zero, don’t usually comment on other stories other than souths, but wow woodduck slipped up and basically admitted he is the Crower, i mean even his dictation is the same, but what about the excuses, man talk about insulting people’s intellegence, example- crowers take on souths chances is almost the exact comments that woodduck has said over time, still small things amuse small minds and now our site has to put up with these guys, we don’t deserve that hey!

  20. Not as ironic as a supporter of a team factually done for salary cap breaches (aka CHEATING) missing the underlining notion of my statement.

So answer must be Manly. Yes they are SALARY CAP CHEATS!

  21. Woodduck please get professional help, your schizophrenic nature where you argue with yourself is quite concerning, out of sympathy, i”ll back off knocking you on here, cause this would not be right with someone in your condition , hopefully you get the medical help required, quite sad.

That was my first orgasm. It’s what planets are made of.

  23. So peeved I spelt John O’Neill’s name wrong. That’s like calling that verbose fellow WoodSook, isn’t it?

  24. I did read your explaination, and fully comprehended it, after all, and as you pointed out, it’s not rocket science. Whether I believe it, well that’s a seperate issue, but my point, re Burgess was, it’s possible for others to use your account, as you pointed out. Whether that’s because they hacked it, or you left it open, or whatever, the point is, it may not be you that is posting on your account.
I don’t know why Sam was cleared of any involvement, and I don’t care, but it was investigated, its physically possible that he wasnt involved, and he was found not to be involved. Done, dusted, move on.

  25. Woow so much hate for the Tigers .. a struggling club with players being paid the proper amount to their salary cap .. This Farah payment to become an ambassador of the game when he retires is part of his current salary .. bulldust .. the Rorters did the same thing with Minnicello (sp?) .. but you know what the NRL did .. they said no worries don’t worry about that Rorters we’ll cover the cost of Minnicello for you .. double standards .. !! If the NRL ban Michael Chee-Kam for this .. the back lash will come in fast and furious .. why didn’t the NRL ban Matt Lodge for what he did in the USA .. the guy should in jail for christ sake. The let’s have a look at Greg Inglis .. speeding and drink driving .. could have killed someone if not himself .. NRL said bad boy .. take a few weeks off and you lose the Aussie Captaincy .. wow. Mr Terdburg should have a good long hard look at himself .. he’s probably on the take with the Rorters .. sign Cronk, Tedesco, Crichton, Ryan Hall from the ESL and already have Cordner all player nearly receiving a million dollars a season .. and the NRL think their under the sombrero cap .. wake up to your NRL .. and do something about making the competition even for all clubs before you start losing spectators and supporters .. !! The NRL competition is a joke at the moment, run by a terdburgler.

  26. Would it be wrong to put all speculation and arguments to rest by making players salaries and TPA public knowledge. Or too invasive?
