Queensland are now well and truly in the middle of an injury crisis ahead of Origin I, with Dane Gagai now in doubt for the series opener on Wednesday night.
The Courier Mail's Peter Badel understands Gagai suffered a compound finger dislocation at training on Tuesday morning, and is now in serious doubt for Game 1 at the MCG.
If Gagai was to miss, he would join Billy Slater on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, while the pair could also be joined by Ben Hunt, who is still struggling to get over a corked thigh, and is in doubt for the game.
MAROONS DRAMA: huge news dane gagai has just suffered a compound finger dislocation at closed session. In major doubt for origin one. If ruled out, Cameron Munster to fullback, chambers to wing, morgan to centre, milford to five eighth and ponga on the bench. Maroons in crisis

With the news of Slater's omission, Kalyn Ponga was in line to make his Origin debut, although it is believed the Maroons are going with Michael Morgan at fullback instead.
However, if Gagai was to be ruled out, Ponga would come onto the bench for his first taste of Origin action, with Anthony Milford to be named in the starting side following a backline re-shuffle.
Queensland are yet to comment on the fitness levels of both Gagai or Hunt.
