Jai Arrow has spoken publicly since it was confirmed that the Rabbitohs were able to grant him the opportunity to reach 100 games for the club in the last two rounds of the season, revealing he won't be able to take the field.
Currently, he has played 98 games for the club since joining in 2021 and has not played 100 games for any of the three clubs he has been part of.
The former Broncos and Titans forward had to end his career in May this year after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
It was announced on Tuesday that Arrow was to take the field in the opening seconds of the Rabbitohs' last two matches in the season against his former team, the Gold Coast Titans and the Sydney Roosters.
The NRL has granted the Rabbitohs a one-off rule change for an additional player on their team list and interchange bench for Arrow to be taken off the field.
Arrow will be allowed to sit on the interchange while he is wearing the Rabbitohs playing kit. He was named at lock on the Rabbitohs team list.
The 178-game veteran expressed his appreciation for the gesture to reach 100 games played for the club.
However, he revealed to Code Sports a devastating update for the opportunity this weekend at Cbus Super Stadium.
"Trying to think what it means to me is quite difficult... There is genuinely so many emotions," Arrow stated.
"I pray to God this never happens to anyone else in the future, and I hope this is the first and only time this ever happens in the NRL.
"I am progressing unfortunately, and can't run anymore so I will be walking.
"I can't control my emotions, so I'm either going to cry my eyes out or laugh my head off.
"I get really stiff when I get embarrassed, so there might be a bit of a limp when I walk off, but that's the disease, and I'll be right.
"Anything that looks unnatural out there, blame MND.
"It's going to be a wild ride, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
