Dolphins star outside back Jack Bostock has expressed his desire to remain with the club beyond the end of 2027.
The centre and winger, who has become a representative player this year and is seemingly now a certain selection for the Kangaroos squad at the end of the year as he gears up for a preliminary final next weekend, is one of a host of players off-contract at the end of 2027.
It means he could go to the open market from November 1, something has been floated as a likely option in recent weeks.
The Dolphins last week seemingly added to the chance of that happening, with the club re-signing both Selwyn Cobbo and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki.
The club have expressed confidence that they have the numbers worked out to be able to retain their crop of off-contract stars, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow who is understood to be chasing up to $1.4 million per year on his next deal.
The commonly held theory is that someone is going to have to leave the Dolphins to make the salary cap work, but Bostock, speaking to AAP, revealed he has no intentions of leaving.
"I would like to stay here for sure," Bostock told AAP.
"I've played here with a lot of mates that I've grown up with the last four years and that helps but I will sort all that out after the finals. It is not the time to be talking contracts now.
"It would mean a lot to me and everyone else in the locker room here to win (a premiership).
"It would be great if we could do it inside the first four years of us being in the NRL, just massive, not just for the playing group but for everyone that played a part to get us here."
The publication are reporting that contract talks between club and outside back have progressed, and a deal may well be done before November 1.
It would represent a major - and potentially unexpected - boost for the club given the Dragons, Bostock's junior club, and others in Sydney, have already been said to be sniffing around his signature.
