Ivan Cleary looks set to join the Wests Tigers on a three and a half year deal after having a successful meeting with the club hierarchy today reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Cleary is likely to join the joint venture club this week but might not take over as head coach until after Round 5 has been played.

The Wests Tigers have been on the hunt for a new coach after the club sensationally sacked former head coach Jason Taylor just three rounds into the season.

With Ivan Cleary seemingly passing review by the board and Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe, his first job at the club will be recruitment, or more importantly, retention.

With James Tedesco, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses and captain Aaron Woods all off contract at the end of the season, the signing of a new coach is the first step into retaining them.

With rumours rife that rival clubs are circling, the Wests Tigers will be looking to lock down their stars as quickly as possible.

The Wests Tigers are also expected to announce the signing of Titans forward Chris McQueen after he has reportedly told the Gold Coast club and teammates of his decision to move back to Sydney at the end of the season.
