Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been committed to stand trial, after being accused of rape.

The 31-year-old faces two charges of aggravated sexual assault, after an incident with a woman in the NSW Hunter Valley in 2018.

Although Hayne has not formally pleaded yet, his lawyer has indicated that his client has denied the charges.

The former Parramatta player was charged in November of last year, after a 26-year-old woman told police the pair had met in person in September of the same year.

Hayne is set to be arraigned in the NSW District Court on July 25.

A trial is not expected to take place before September 2020.

Hayne was granted a variation of bail, allowing him to live in Perth on a temporary basis to attend an education course.
