The Gold Coast Titans have announced the signing of Mitch Rein for season 2018.

Rein has commenced training with the Titans at the TFH High Performance Centre after moving north from the Penrith Panthers. The 27-year-old spent the majority of 2017 as part of the victorious Intrust Super Premiership team under the tutelage of new Titans Head Coach Garth Brennan.

The hooker made his NRL debut in Round 1 of season 2011 for the St George Illawarra Dragons, playing 132 matches in the red and white, before shifting to the Panthers where he spent one year, playing five games in the top grade.

The Kiama junior is excited about the move north of the border.

“I came here not knowing many of the guys but they’ve been very welcoming and I can’t wait to rip in for the rest of the pre-season,” Rein said.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and having the opportunity to link up with Garth again, is great.

“He is a champion guy and a great coach, once he gave me a call it was a pretty easy decision.”

Head Coach Garth Brennan is happy he was able to lure Rein to the Titans.

“Mitch is the ultimate competitor and someone that I enjoy coaching,” he said. “He is a terrific trainer and his attitude across every aspect of the game can’t be faulted.

“He has made a smooth transition into the club and I know he is looking forward to working hard over the next few months of pre-season training.

“It’s great that we have been able to acquire an experienced player who has played over 130 NRL games and represented Country Origin.”
