The Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed that winger Marcelo Montoya will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a high-grade hamstring injury.

The 22-year old old sustained the injury during his side's 28-10 win over Mounties in the Intrust Super Premiership on the weekend, rupturing his hamstring tendon.

The club's 2017 rookie of the year will not require surgery, but will be closely monitored.

Marcelo has played 15 games for Canterbury this season, taking his total tally to 34 NRL appearances.
