Just days after NSW's historic series win, coach Brad Fittler will be given the chance to stay at the wheel of NSW until the end of 2020, according to Fairfax Media.

If Fittler decides to extend his contract beyond the existing two-year deal, it could see NSW begin their own period of dominance after they won just their second series in only 13 years.

With the series already wrapped up at 2-0 before even being played in the colosseum of Suncorp Stadium, NSW are somewhat confident Fittler will remain at the helm for some time to come.

When asked about Fittler's coaching style, NSWRL chief executive David Trodden explains many people highly underestimated Freddy.

"What a lot of people see is the Freddy on the sideline at Channel Nine games and they see the quirky nature and the off-beat sense of humour. That's actually a part of him" he says.

"But what they don't see is the really deep thinker and the highly principled person that he is. And they don't see the person of really strong convictions.

"He's a deep thinker about the game and he's got very clear views on how the game should be played and how to get the best out of players that play for him. He doesn't doubt himself about any of the strategies he follows.

"He has the capacity to get other people to believe in him. If you get a guy whose leadership style is as such and others who totally buy into what he's doing you're more than half-way there."

NSW are preparing to capitalise commercially on the series victory, and are now setting their sights on becoming the first NSW team to whitewash QLD since 2000, in which Fittler captained the Blues side.
