Jai Field has shut down speculation linking him with an NRL return, insisting he has no plans to leave the Wigan Warriors despite ongoing rumours surrounding his future.
The electric fullback has emerged as one of the Super League's premier players since making the move to England in 2021, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2027 season, reports had linked him with a return to Australia.
Among the clubs reportedly interested was the incoming Perth Bears franchise, although those claims were recently dismissed by Wigan coach Matt Peet.
Field has now echoed his coach's comments, revealing he is happy where he is and has no desire to walk away from what the Warriors are building.
“I'm very content here at the minute, and I can't really see myself going anywhere," he told Love Rugby League.
“We're building something special here at the club, with this group in particular as well.
“I don't think you just want to throw all of that away.
“The deadline doesn't really matter to me.
“I'm here until the end of next season anyway (with my current contract), but I think it's all pretty sweet.”
Field's journey to becoming one of the Super League's biggest stars has been anything but straightforward.
The 28-year-old made his NRL debut with the St George Illawarra Dragons in 2017 and featured in just 11 first-grade matches across three seasons before being released by the club.
After leaving the Dragons, Field was linked with a move to the Leeds Rhinos but instead accepted a train-and-trial opportunity with the Parramatta Eels ahead of the 2020 campaign.
Capable of playing anywhere across the spine and in the outside backs, he managed six NRL appearances for Parramatta that season before again finding himself without a contract at year's end.
Field signed with Wigan ahead of the 2021 season and has since established himself as one of the competition's elite players, helping transform the Warriors into one of the Super League's powerhouse clubs.
